More Like Been Around Sammys Cowboy BistroThis restaurant has been around for a while. It exists in a converted gas station with a nice, overgrown garden around it. Inside is a warren of small rooms.Sammys is old school. French in the Julia Child manner. A bit of a throwbackand thats good. You dont find many of these traditional French restaurants around these days.Service is friendly under the watchful eye of the owner/manager. Prices are high, but you know that youre going to get a well though out meal that is tried and true.
Fantastic Dinner!! We will be back!!
Absolute gem. I’m always bemused by encountering any negative review of this place. We have eaten here at least 5 times and never had anything less than a spectacular meal and a memorable experience.Dinner can definitely run into some money, especially with a glass or two of wine, but every dish is delicious and imaginative, and every ingredient is top quality. Lunch is an amazing value at $15. Reservations can be difficult to come by, I hear, but as soon as we plan an Ashland trip we make our dinner reservations. Lunch reservations are same-day only, but we’ve never been unable to snag a table. My most recent lunch was a lamb burger with smoky eggplant and harissa and an intensely garlicky aioli, on a fabulous house-made bun. It was huge and it was altogether wonderful. My companion had grilled steak over an orange/avocado/arugula salad, which was not quite such a large portion but was also delicious. We shared a plum Linzer torte with slivovitz ice cream that was one of the most memorable desserts ever. Then again, so was the shortbread with figs poached in honey-whiskey syrup and Scotch whisky ice cream we had a couple of years ago.The wine list is as terrific as the menu, reasonably priced and offering many spectacular Oregon vintages. This is truly a dining experience not to be missed.
Great Restaurant. Food while high priced is great. Had lunch which made it much more reasonable, service was excellent as was the food & wine.
Bill Herman. Two couples of us recently tried this place. Could not understand the menu and how to order.. Manager was rude in trying to explain. Prices seemed extravagant. We got up and left.
Wine heaven!. Food was very good, but the wine list was excellent! Could get you into trouble….. I will for sure go back as soon as my wallet recovers… it is a bit expensive.
