I reviewed this place over a year ago with 5 stars. I loved it! It was by go-to coffee shop for yummy drinks and delicious sweets. However, since the owner change, it’s just not quite the same. My orders keep getting messed up and the sweet treats aren’t as good. My favorite Salem coffee shop unfortunately is no longer Birdies..

Wonderful Relaxing Atmosphere. I work nearby the Bistro, so anytime I need a break this is the place. I have ordered most all of the items on the menu (including most all of the desserts)! Not one complaint from me, my family or co-workers. It’s a wonderful place to go relax next to the fireplace or out on the relaxing patio! The staff is amazing!

Yummy…for the most part. So my Mom and I went to have breakfast here yesterday. A very friendly young woman took our order and was very helpful when we had questions. I ordered biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and Mom ordered a ciabatta breakfast sandwich with bacon. About five minutes after I sat down at one of the nice tables outside the gal who took our order told me they didn’t have enough to give me the full portion of biscuits and gravy and asked if I still wanted it. I told her I did and she asked if I would like to add some quiche with it, I said yes some bacon quiche would be fine. Breakfast came out 15 minutes later. Mine had no quiche with it, I guess they decided that half of an order, when we paid for a full order was enough. The plates of food looked yummy. We had asked ahead of time and were told they everything but the sandwich bread and bagels were made in house! Yay!! I started eating my scrambled eggs they did not taste fresh cooked they tasted like they were kept warm pre-cooked, scrambled eggs not cooked fresh??? My daughter, who loves scrambled eggs, gave them a little taste and spit them out refusing to eat them, and she eats EVERYTHING. The gravy was amazing!!!! I have tried biscuits and gravy in almost every place in Salem and this was YUMMY for me! It had lots of sausage and was more sweet than peppery, which I love! I am not a huge fan of pepper bacon, but this was not bad. The ciabatta bread was yummy! Everything about her sandwich, except those scrambled eggs, was delish! Hers came with a fruit bowl and it was filled with fresh blueberries and strawberries, which my daughter LOVED. I would go back, just not order eggs 🙁 The baked goods in the case looked spectacular and I would love to at least give them a try.

This little restaurant is more than a coffee shop. It now serves fresh and hearty lunches. Try the citrus salad. Yum. It’s so nice to have a lunch place in Keizer that serves fresh homemade food and is locally owned. We needed this!

The homemade biscuits and gravy are exceptional, their scones have never disappointed, and the house coffee is wonderful (choice of medium or dark roast). I can understand that food prices may seem relatively high to some, however, take it from a coupon clipping frugal consumer that when taking portion size and quality of ingredients into consideration, the prices are very reasonable and what I would expect from a higher quality bistro. I have brought my daughters here a number of times and have had wonderful food and courteous service every time. It is tastefully decorated and very open and bright on the corner of the complex with a patio.

Great food, warm atmosphere!. Staff was absolutely wonderful. Probably one of the best lattes I have had in Salem.. (Pumpkin Spice latte). The woman making the latte made sure to tell me that if I needed it hotter to let her know, since some of the ingredients were kept in the refrigerator for the pumpkin latte. Very accomodating and friendly. The fresh cut potato chips were very good.. as well as the bacon quiche and the asiago potato salad. I will definitely be back again. Worth going to Keizer even if just for the coffee. It is hard to find restaurants these days that have a great staff.. and Birdie’s Bistro does!
