What a treat! It was a great visit and the lady who runs the joint made it a wonderful experience. The place is tucked away off River Rd. It is pretty easy to miss. Also all the windows are blocked out by curtains, giving an appearance it is closed. So look for it.Walking in, it does not appear to be an upscale joint. However, it has Japanese decorations all over. Something about the size and how it set up makes you feel pretty comfortable. The table and chairs are the cheap ones you find in most diners/delis. The bar is tiny, one could almost fit four people at it. Again, it is a small place. The girlfriend and I were greeted by the most chatty and sweet woman ever. She asked us personal question, explained the menu, suggested items, and brought up all sorts of topics. It was a lot of fun chatting with her.We asked for waters and she directed us to some bottled water. This is one thing I did not love. Tap water is fine for me and doesn’t cost. Regardless I got some waters. They also have a decent selection of Asian bottled beer (Thai, Chinese, and Japanese. I recommend Asahi Black(see photos). It had some qualities of a porter but more of an ale flavor. It went down well on a hot day!As for the food, well made! She bragged her food was all made there and prepared by her, nothing prepackaged. You can tell when you eat it.First we ordered some miso soup. Typically, this soup is pretty typical wherever you get it, but this had a freshness to it and has a smoother taste than other’s miso soup. Again, we could tell it was made. With out soup she asked us to try her shrimp salad because it pairs well it the beer. Amazingly enough it did at that.Next came the nigiri(fish on rice). The rice was darn near perfect. It was very sticky and seemed to be made fairly recent. The fish was a GREAT temperature. if you ever had sushi that is too cold or warm, you know what I’m talking about.Along with that I had some wasabi that was different than what I am accustomed to. It had a creamy texture instead of what other’s looks like playdough. It made for great texture on the sushi.Lastly were the rolls, which were a good size, instead of some places who make them very thin. She also encouraged us to get her sauce on top. I believe it to be sriracha and mayonnaise. Believe it or not it worked well.During our whole meal, we chatted back and forth with the lady and had a great meal. So far this is the only place in the Salem/Keizer area I would recommend having sushi, as I’ve been to numerous other locations.

Wonderful food and very nice people. Absolutely fantastic food and service. My fianc and I were craving sushi yesterday and after reading a bunch of reviews, we decided to try out Cherry’s for ourselves. The rolls and the nigiri we ordered were beautifully presented and the taste was outstanding. Cherry was very friendly and even made us some customized sushi rolls with a combination of house sauces sauces she thought we’d really like; they were absolutely superb. The amount of fish to rice ratio was great, unlike a lot of places we’ve been, Cherry’s does not skimp on the fish. Speaking of the fish, you could tell it was all fresh top quality stuff. The fact she also uses real crab was amazing. When getting ready to leave, Cherry was sweet enough to give me a to-go cup so we could take the remaining tea we had in the pot with us. We will definitely be back!

Really fresh and delicious. Went for the first time tonight. The place is really clean and the owners are super friendly. The food was delicious and did not take all that long, especially considering that it was all made to order. I really thought the individual prices were very reasonable, but we were such gluttons that it cost us over $50 for just 2 of us. But that was for 2 individual egg flower soups (excellent!), 4 shrimp salad rolls (crispy fresh), 2 salmon nigiri, 8 pieces Keizer roll (crab), 8 pieces Rainbow roll, cucumber salad and large sake for 2. So really, we got a LOT of food for our money. Will definitely return for more.
