I felt that a more up-to-date review was needed. The daily specials are wonderful and we often need to call ahead to reserve a dinner because the place is so popular that they run out of the specials for that day. Our favorite is Monday’s Beer Butt Chicken, which is 1/2 of a very large chicken that falls off the bone and has a wonderful beer flavor. Along with that, you get a trip to their salad bar, and a Large pile of fries – all for $8! My husband and I usually share and its plenty of food! Courtney at the bar is wonderful and seems to be everywhere at once – complete with smiles. After having gone here about 3 times, Courtney now makes our drinks as she sees us walk in the door and they are at the table almost the same time we are!! It is a casual atmosphere – it’s a bar – so walk on in and sit down wherever. The outside seating is wonderful with lots of tables, plenty of shade, horseshoe pit, etc. A very pleasant place to have a couple drinks in the evening. We have always had great service and the food is awesome. Try it out!!

Terrible service. Went to have Prime Rib Friday dinner, got there at 6:30pm, ordered along with mushrooms for an appetizer. Had some drinks, we expected a 20 to 30 minute wait. After multiple assurances that we were lucky we got our order in on time, by 8:00pm, I got irritated and demanded to get the Prime Rib to go. Found out they misplaced my order, and they were out of Prime Rib.This is not the first problem with service. Lunch times expect to take 1 and 1/2 hours to eat.The food isn’t that great. It is located 1/2 mile from my home, but I will drive by in the future and go to my favorite restaurants. Hitching Post is on my no stop list.
Not so hot. As people say the burgers are good. Other items, not so good. Went to breakfast today and had to wait an hou for my food. I saw other people complain, and I saw two groups walk out. The waitress was fine. You just have to teach the cooks to cook more than one item at a time.Prime rib night everyone I talked to raved about it. When I went the way they smoked cooked it over powered the taste. I could only taste would chips, (or what ever they used), not the meat.Seems like it was going to take off and be a good spot. I now predict new owners within the year.
Good Burgers…. This is pretty much a greasy spoon, bit of a dive but has good burgers. I’ve tried other items there and have had mixed results. During my last visit, the food was below average and I watched an entire table send their food back. However, the burgers are well above average.
Excellent hamburgers! I live nearby & visit regularly. I haven’t tried anything else simply because the hamburgers are so delicious. I always get the 1/2lb Post (I made the mistake if ordering the 1lb Post once and it was gigantic!) There are also tons of sides to choose from: sweet potato fries, regular fries, salad, tater tots….and the list goes on. It’s very lively every time I’ve been there & thoroughly enjoy it!
