As the name implies…………… They’re pretty big on Seafood. SWMBO, our grandson, Drew Thornton and I tried it today. They’ve only been open a couple of weeks so the sign is a temporary one, and a little hard to see. If you remember the El Charrito restaurant, it’s that venue. Carol had a Crispy Shrimp Taco, Drew had Chicken Enchiladas and I had Camarones a la Diabla (Spicy Shrimp). All came with Refried Beans, Rice and Salad. (Carol’s by order, the others included them.)I have to say we were not favorably impressed at first blush. We noticed the table and the condiment containers were sticky. Also, the Chips were not very fresh and of two different persuasions which suggest possible consolidation in the kitchen from prior baskets. (I have no hard evidence of this, but it does cross one’s mind.) Given these things, I wasn’t expecting much from our meals.Despite our misgivings, our meals were a very pleasant surprise. Drew said his Enchiladas were excellent. SWMBO liked her Taco. And I loved my Spicy Shrimp which were not as caliente as I’ve had elsewhere (most notably at Habanero) but wonderfully flavorful with just a touch of sweetness. I requested a couple of hot Flour Tortillas which spared me the embarrassment of licking the amazing sauce from my plate! The Salads were more substantial than you get at most Mexican places and included; Red Onion, Cucumbers, Tomato and fresh, crisp Iceberg Lettuce.I asked our server if the menu represented regional cuisine. She said this type of cooking is common to the state of Nayarit in Mexico.I feel I should mention that they are pushing the pricing envelope for Mexican restaurants in the area. I thought $35 for three lunches (tip included) is a tad on the high side. Otherwise, with just a little more attention to housekeeping and fresh Chips with the Salsa, the place would be top drawer.
