Don’t Hesitate … Just Go. This is definitely not a fancy restaurant … but it is authentic. We had a terrible time finding it … saw it but couldn’t believe it was actually what we were looking for … sort of looks like a little Mexican grocery store covered on the outside with advertising in Spanish.Walk through the door and it appears dark and crowded … as in very cramped … but in the back is a counter to order food from and the folks there certainly know how to make you feel welcome. Four gringo’s walk in and they went out of their way to explain what everything was before we ordered. You then go sit at a table (like a picnic table) with folding chairs and they bring the food to you … if you’re in a hurry this isn’t the place for you as it’s all cooked to order … and worth the wait.As we ate, the owners daughter (I say that because she said it was her Mom and Dad’s place) brought us a plate of Pork Carnitas we hadn’t ordered and simply said she’d like us to try it so we might have an idea for next time.We will definitely go back and I highly recommend Plaza Morelia.
Wowzers. I would drive twice as far to have the lamb tacos. The torta was very good. But by gosh those lamb tacos are going to be on my mind for quite a spell. The richness of the lamb, the luscious creaminess of the avocado, the crunch of the radishes and raw sweet onion. Oh my goodness I think I’m going to be driving down to Keizer town way more often this winter!
Good, authentic carnitas. Smokin’ hot tortillas.
Cheap and DELICIOUS!
