Pros and Cons. $2.50 wells and $3 micros with a $3.50 hh food menu makes the place a nice hh spot. Pool tables, buck hunter and pinball make the spot a great place to kick it with your friends. I like the clientele too, run into friends and people I know all the time here. The fact they have wifi and they’re a bar is nice. however……the music is always way too loud. no matter what time of day you have to scream at the person standing next to you. The food is average and WAY over priced… Why would I pay ten dollars for a burrito with chicken sour cream and guac when I can walk to a number of cheaper places on burnside that don’t charge you extra?Out of all the places in portland to get a burger… why would you come here!? go down to slow bar or violetta… the burger at le pigeon is only $12 and amazing. Basically any place that doesn’t still use frozen gross low grade patties. My final complaint…. the service…. I love most of the bartenders. They aren’t intrusive and yet still attentive but there is one female that gets on my nerve the minute I walk in the door. Hipster glares galore. She isn’t helpful. She acts like she just doesn’t want to do her job. Go in, I’m sure she will stick out like a sore thumb compared to the other humble nice bartenders you get to deal with on nights she’s not working. So all in all, go here for happy hour or to hang out with friends…. get food else where and for your sake I hope that bratty lady isn’t serving you drinks all night cause she is a downer….

The service was minimal and the food was nowhere what it used to be. Ahi was really dry annd the fries were too done.

Surprising. I had only had a drink here before, and had not glanced at the menu, so I went in for dinner with low expectations of dive-bar food. However, I was surprised. The chicken burgers were excellent; the chicken tasted as if it had come straight off an outdoor grill (maybe it did?). The menu was fairly extensive for a bar, with plenty of non-burger, non-sandwich options.

Dressin Things Up. Heard a lot of good things about the food here. I wasnt feeling too adventurous so I went with the Cheeseburger ($6.50). My wife got the Bonfire Burger which comes with Grilled Onion, Cheddar and a Chipotle Relish. Upon arrival everything looked good; Cheddar Cheese was nicely melted, Kaiser Rolls instead of a typical Burger Bun, the Fries were peppered rather than salted. My wifes Burger came with a thick cut of Cucumber that had been ‘quick pickled’ (if that makes any sense) and she thought it was the cats pajamas. Unfortunately, the minute I bit into the burger I knew it was straight out of a box. The texture gives it away. Just to be sure I asked the bartender if they build their own patties and she admitted that they did not, that the Burgers were of the frozen variety. Too bad, as they dress them up rather nicely. But thats kind of like pimping out a Hyundai isnt it? I mean whats the point?Anyhow, I’d go back and try something else as there were a few items on the menu that sounded good and are made in-house.Update 10/28/10Went back with my wife and a friend. I had the Bonfire Prawns and they were as spicy as advertised but were also a little overcooked. No problem with the Coconut Rice though, it was awesome and really helped squelch the fire from the Habanero sauce on the Prawns. My wife had the Jerk Burrito and while she did enjoy it she said this thing was crying out for chunks of mango (which they do have in the Hellfire Burrito, so its possible) to take it to the next level. My friend went for the Hellfire Burrito and the Hellfire sauce brought tears to his eyes. He said it hurt so good that he had to finish it no matter what the cost.So obviously our second impression was much better than the first one. Which means we would certainly drop by again for lunch someday. drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com

Awesome food! Slightly subpar service. Great prices for the only spot in the nieghborhood with food of this caliber. Definately NOT your presumed barfood. Fresh salmon, killer burgers, Tex-mex, Greek, international cuisine along with great refreshing drinks with a little attitude. Definately my stop on the way home.
