one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. we splurged and took out some work colleagues and ordered one of almost everything on the menu. i think we got 12 plates and only 1 was a miss. about 8 were great and 3 were just out of this world.the waiter was fantastic and made great wine recommendations and the physical space was very comfortable, just right for a splurgy meal.

Nice simple elegant well prepared dishes. This was high in the oregonian dining guide 2015 and it didn’t disappoint. I like the small plate sharing system. Get 2 to 3 dishes per person. Very friendly staff. Booths were on the small side so ask for a table if you are large bodied.

Disappointing. Our group of 4 had reserved table midweek for 8 PM. We were seated 45 minutes late – all good by us as we were engaged in conversation. Server guy then has gall to inform us upon being seated that the kitchen closes in 15 minutes – any cooked items must be ordered immediately… hmmm. The gin martini I had was excellent, though using unpitted olives without a toothpick left me fishing around the bottom of my finished drink in order to scoop them up.The ala-carte menu looks interesting, but the six dishes we shared were uniformly tiny, and generally ho-hum. Some of the bizarre: Our foursome ordered a $12 cheese plate that arrived with two tiny slivers of strange cheese, 8 toasted filberts, and exactly 3 whole cherries (couldn’t they at least have provided just one more cherry such that we each could have one – our table was eye-to-eye with the cooking staff – they could see there were four of us). There was no bread, no cracker, no nothing on which to deliver the cheese to mouth, short of balancing pea-sized crumbs on top of a filbert… Two other dishes each arrived with exactly 3 home fries (see comment on cherries, above). Really? All the tiny dishes were overly expensive – perhaps double what is reasonable based on size and quality. The roast duck leg tasted good, but I had exactly one mouthful, so can’t provide a robust assessment. The scallops bordered on good, but were just a little too bland to be memorable. The beet salad looked interesting, but was really just a picnic-grade egg salad (flavor-wise) with pretty beet accents. Overall, you will leave hungry, thinking about the nearest place you can sink your teeth into a juicy burger (Lardo anyone?) or burrito.Highlights of the night were the great company of friends that we don’t see often enough and the martini (perhaps a couple more of those and I wouldn’t care what was delivered to us food-wise). I would come back for a cocktail sometime, but wouldn’t choose to dine here again.

Disorganized and Dissapointed. A friend highly recommended this relatively new restaurant to us. We made a reservation at 8:00 on a Saturday night for a group (can make reservations here for 4 or less in a party) and arrived promptly. We were told immediately that we’d be seated soon. At the 1/2 hour point of waiting, a staff member handed out menus with 1/2 of the items crossed off, explaining that the kitchen had run out of these items- most of the heavy appetizers and most entrees, leaving a mix of items that were unsuitable for a complete dinner. We immediately left and will never return. Poor service from the get-go and a poorly managed kitchen that manages to run out of food at prime time on a busy Saturday night.

Attractive menu, intrigiuing wine list. A glass pour is tiny in the goblet, so you feel reamed when you see what’s delivered. $14 for one scallop is too steep, and I’m used to being reamed at destination resorts. But this is east Portland on Burnside. Don’t think I’ll be back.
