Luce is a lovely little Italian place that avoids the usual pasta-only mandate of Italian restaurants and encourages instead a sampling of a variety of small things. We tried the meat and veggie polpette, panzanella (a tomato, bread, basil, and cheese salad – fresh and flavorful), grilled cabbage with garlic oil, black cod with saffron and fennel, and linguine with tuna and porcini mushrooms. The veggie polpette wasn’t bad but the meat polpette was better. These were basically small fried balls of various dense and finely grated ingredients. The black cod was sufficiently flavored with saffron and fennel, but it was a bit fishy, and as such perhaps not the freshest. The linguine was delightful, handmade and just the right thickness and texture, saturated with the decadent aroma of porcini and tuna, which surprisingly made an amazing combo. The best was the cabbage! It came in a big slab, carved straight from a ball of cabbage, cooked in garlic oil and torched to perfection. We also had the hazelnut cake, which was extremely dry and crumbly akin to a meringue crust – we did not enjoy it. Overall, we highly recommend this restaurant for good food, simplicity and understated charm.

Lovely. You will get a delicious meal here for sure. The flavors are wonderfully extracted and presented. Now it is bit expensive to some people if they are comparing it in a cost VS portion ratio. They are not going to serve you Spaghetti Warehouse or Amalfi’s portions if that is what you are looking for. It is not that kind of place. This is for people that truly want to have an amazing palate experience. You can taste the care and time that is put into each dish and I for one appreciate that and will pay for it. Bravo!
