This restaurant is overpriced with monotonous food that does not accurately represent thai food as a whole. My partner and I visited in mid January. Our table we were seated at was unstable and though we asked to be seated elsewhere our request was ignored. Secondly, the wait time from ordering and receiving food was too much. Once we got our food, it was oddly textured and flavored, and I could not stomach it. I asked for some dumplings so that I wouldn’t leave hungry, but was giving something off the menu that I did not want, or find tasty. I also asked for the check to be delivered with the dumplings, and our server took an extra 10 minutes to bring it after I was served.Do not waste your money on this restaurant, Pok pok is much better priced for what you get, as is any of the many family run thai places around SE and NE portland. Thanks PaaDee, we will not be returning.

I love the ambiance here! Cute bar, great lighting, huge windows. Best on a warm day when the windows are open! I’m a big fan of the green curry (although they claim it’s spicy, and it definitely isn’t at all). The coconut milk soup with mushrooms is amazing, as is the Thai iced tea! This would be a great place for a date! thekitchenpaper.com

Excellent Thai food. This place is so much better than pok pok.

This place struggles to find its identity. This is Portland’s hipster wanna be LA Thai/Asian/noodle joint. The service was awkward. Asked to have shrimp or chicken put into our fresh rolls and the server flat out refused. Not very impressed.

Love this place, a little nicer than your casual Thai place near your home. Specializing in authentic but slightly more obscure dishes, the first thing I noticed is that dishes rely more on fresher ingredients and less on herbs, spices and sauces the way a more casual place does. The drink menu is good and the bar service features happy hour all day, great if you are dining alone or with a single bud. Service can be weird, I’ve had a half hour wait for a scoop of ice cream before, and once my dish came with mushrooms (a deathly allergy for me) when there wasn’t any listed on the menu.

Second Glance. When these guys first opened I looked over their menu, saw a couple ‘Pork Belly’ dishes and immediately wrote them off. Does every restaurant in Portland HAVE to serve some rendition of pork belly? Is it a law? Enough already with the pork belly. I know it shows that youre both hip AND trendy but I dont need it in my coffee. Thank you. So anyhow, cut to almost a year later and (for whatever reason) my wife is browsing their lunch menu online and says a few things that catch my attention. I give in. We go. Yesterday was our second visit and I am beginning to realize that PaaDee has some of the best, definitely some of the most flavorful, Thai food in town. I fit them squarely in the number 2 slot behind Chiang Mai without hesitation. As I said; its the vibrance of their flavors that really puts them ahead of the game. I forgot how delicious Panang Curry (w/ pork) could taste, and realized the others I have been eating were just a shell of the real thing. Same can be said for the Massaman. My wife has had the Steak Salad and their Garlic Pepper Chicken. She cant stop talking about the Steak Salad and it took all the willpower she had to try something different when we returned. She liked that other, latter dish, though she was surprised by the lack of veggies in it. We agreed that the Fried Chicken Wontons were just OK, but that the Fresh Rolls were excellent. The obviously, ‘hand picked in Thailand’ decor gives an authenticity to the overall atmosphere, which is inviting and cozy, despite them being in somewhat of a sterile space. Service was professional and warm. Grade: B+ ($6 for a well drink is a little silly guys. you certainly wont be seeing any of my monies on that front) drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com
