Pho no…. Appetizer egg rolls are $4 bucks per order and there are only 2 tiny rolls per. I wouldn’t mind paying that if it were the regular fat rolls that most Vietnamese places serve. The server could not speak or understand a word of English. I repeated his statement that the egg rolls had 2 pieces and instead he brought me out 2 orders in 1 plate. The orders came in 10 mins apart for 4 of us and the place was empty at 2:00pm. This place just won’t cut it, on the hunt for another in Portland.

Pho Yeah!. This place is awesome. I’ve yet to have a bad meal here. Great, flavorful, well-executed pho with plenty of options. Also there’s some sort of cashew chicken app that is very much worth getting. twice.

Great Pho. Great vege Pho, and though I am sure it was beef broth, this is not a concern for me. I just have a preference for vege Pho. Service is meh, not good not bad. Girls that were working were nice, but not all that on top of it. The peanut sauce with the salad rolls is awesome.

Wasn’t impressed! I’ve been to much better Pho places! The food was ok, but I wouldn’t call it a good Pho place at all!

Full of Pho-lavor. Yes, the decor is slightly bewildering (carnival masks and roman pillars?!) as is whats usually coming through the speakers; a muzak version of the soundtrack to twin peaks (?), but I can live with these things because the pho here is very good. I usually have the Pho Tai (thinly sliced beef) and while there could stand to be a bit more beef, cut a little thicker, the quality of the veggies and other ingredients are top notch, with delicious flavors brimming from every spoonful. This kind of food cant be beat on a gloomy day. The fresh spring roll are delicious as well. I havent had Pho anywhere else in Portland because to be honest I dont really feel the need, as every meal we’ve had from here has been a gem and with them being just a block from my home I’m quite content to stick with these guys until that changes. Hopefully it never does.Grade: B+ (after all these years, the ‘grand opening’ banner out front deserves to be retired)Update 10/27/12Well, I just finished having lunch at Pho An Sandy and must say that their Pho easily trumps Pho Gias. The meat there is more plentiful and cut slightly thicker, and they bring you more of a variety of garnishes and sauces. Still, Pho Gia is nothing to stake a stick at and Im sure theyll still see us once in a while. drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com

Okay food, mouthy cooks. Living only around the block, I come here often. The service isn’t bad, but then the restaurant has never been crowded when I was there. Reasonable prices, semi-authentic food, although the amount of meat in there dishes is underwhelming (I counted 6 shrimps in my shrimp curry and only a few slices of beef in the pho). Not the best Vietnamese food out there, but enough for me to come back. One thing: I’m Vietnamese and I can understand what the people in the kitchen say, which basically is always criticizing for customers for various reasons (not spending enough money, too picky, etc.) If you can live with that, the place isn’t too bad.

In the Neighborhood. This place is AWESOME. We live in the neighborhood and eat at Pho Gia every chance we get. Try their green curry with fresh pineapple! I also love the pho. We are big fans. The family who owns the restaurant is always so friendly. And they are so gracious when I have special requests.
