After seeing Crawfish Ettoufee Nachos on the cover of Portland Monthly, I wanted to try them. They did not disappoint as they were a unique blend of Cajun, Latin and Vietnamese flavors. I could eat bowls of these nachos made with wonton wraps. Every thing else we tried was exquisite. The fried okra were crispy and perfect bite sized pieces. The Jambalaya had shrimp, chicken and andouille sausage. It was delicious and I got leftovers for a lunch snack. The Sazeracs, yes I drank two, were the best I have had. They had the perfect blend of Pernod and Old Overholt Whiskey and bitters. The server was excellent and the dishes were delivered by the owner, chef which I thought was exceptional customer service. This place just jumped into one of my favorite Portland places.
This restaurant was agitating and confusing. I wish I would have known it was Asian fusion, and I would have had a different mind set and would maybe get a higher score. When I came in the decor was cute and had the feel of Louisiana. Sat at a small table, with some sketchy chairs that were uncomfortable. Walking by weeks prior I saw there was crawfish etoufee. I just moved from Florida and was missing southern cuisine. I chose this place for my 33rd birthday on June 2. I wanted and expected a good Hurricane. The drink I got was way too sweet. Also ordered crawfish etoufee nachos and pork belly skewers. I didn’t realize they were nachos when I saw the menu through a window a few weeks prior. Whatever the seasoning is on the wonton chips takes away from the etoufee and ruins the classic dish to not taste like etoufee. It is something different entirely and should be called something else. The pork belly skewers were so rich, it was hard to eat. The food was good, it just wasn’t a Cajon creole restaurant. I probably won’t go again
Did. NOT. like it. Nothing we had except two items were good. Steak & the Crab Mac cheese. Chef must be working the salt mines cuz the Fish was salted so heavy my eyes curled!! The kale salad was just terrible. The crawfish fritters, and I’m a fritter lover, were NOT flavorful at all. Fritters are suppose to be crispy & crunchy. These wee not. Cornbread muffin was a soft crumbly cake. Consistency was not cornbread. Veggie Jambalaya not pleasant at all. No. Won’t return. Not my cuppa tea!!!
Wondered in here off the street with a friend last night for the first time and had the best dinner I’ve ever had in Portland… I’m officially obsessed.
Enjoyable. We have eaten at this restaurant several times — if my memory is correct, all during lunch time. Each time we have enjoyed the food. Once the service was only fair — slow and inattentive. We went here again recently, and found everything great — atmosphere, service, and food. The only fault that I could find was I had their house salad with beets and fennel, plus I added blackened shrimp. The salad was very good, but the shrimp ended up being a $1 each ($4 addition to the salad), were small, and pretty salty. My wife had the mac & cheese, which she loves, and we shared a trio of sides. For the sides we chose collards w/ bacon (which my wife absolutely loves — very surprisingly to me for her — and, yes, it does have vinegar in it, which is not a problem), sweet potato fries, and slaw. The slaw was the least impressive, but okay. We also had the flaming crme brle — yum! — one of the better takes on it.
Wonderful welcoming Cajun tapas. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Portland, any of my coworkers looking for a new place to eat, and pretty much ANYONE. I even had my rehearsal dinner for my wedding at this place. The owner and rest of the staff are WONDERFUL! Every time we walk in we’re greeted with such friendly and welcoming faces. The food is also rediculous! Crawfish fritters: delicious with an amazing dipping sauce. Steak Diane: holy cow! Last but not least the jambalaya: HOLY DELICIOUS! It’s got chicken, crawfish, and shrimp in it and it’s just the right about of sauce and spice. Oh man I’m drooling just thinking about it. Go there….it’s a good decisionAlso I believe they have live Louisiana style music on Tues. and Thurs
