Try This Wonderful Vibrant Cuisine. I believe that the food here is Ethiopian, although it is somewhat different from the fare that I have had at another Ethiopian place across town. Half the menu is devoted to African specialties and the other half seems to be Greek stuff such as gyros. But why would you come here for Greek food? Try the unusual African stuff instead!I took a couple of friends here this evening and the food received rave reviews all around. One of my friends and I had the Beri Beri chicken which featured very tender chunks of chicken in a sauce that was kind of sort of Curry like but not really. I’m not sure what Beri Beri is but it definitely feature seasonings that are off the beaten path, some wonderful herbs that I could not place. My other friend had a salmon dish that he said was really impressive, and the salmon was actually wild and not farm raised. Of course we had to start things off with a couple of green lentils stuffed pastries that again feature unusual and wonderful seasonings.Like other reviewers have said I cannot understand the 75% approval rating that Horn of Africa is currently receiving. How could someone not like this place?I have to say that I was turned onto Horn of Africa by their food booth at the waterfront blues Festival. If you have tried their food at the blues Fest and liked it then you will absolutely like the restaurant itself. The portions are generous, the prices are not at all expensive, you will love it. Mom and pop ethnic places are currently the restaurants that really give you the bang for the buck these days.
