This place is great! I told the waitress once that I liked a ton of veggies in my Tom yum soup, and it was loaded with veggies. I have been back since and I am not sure if she remembered me but I ordered a stirfry and it had a ton of tasty veggies.
Somehwere In The Middle. I knew there was a Thai joint or 2 in the neighborhood where we were wandering and Chai Yo is the one we found first. Set up in an old Victorian home, theyve done a nice job of retaining the buildings charm without making things too casual. I like Curry. If I had children I would probably name them after the different types of it. Yes, I am serious about things involving Curry. For this episode I entertained their Panang rendition (with Chicken). It came with Soup. The Soup wasnt much to shake a stick at. It was a collage of Cabbage, Lemongrass and bits of Chicken. I really expected there to be some heavy Lemongrass tang happening, but there was not. Actually, the soup didnt have much going on in the way of flavor. I didnt bother to finish mine. We also ordered a couple of Thai Iced Teas, and those were right on the money. In addition to coming in a nice large glass, the flavor was perfect; not too sweet, not too much cream. As I said; perfect. The food arrived rather quickly but everything looked alright. Though you could tell just by looking at it that the Rice was going to be slightly gummy, and my tongue quickly confirmed that report. While my Curry was a bit oilier than it shouldve been, the overall flavor was pretty good and there was just the right amount of everything, including heat index. My wife had the Pad Ga Prow, which is a stir fry vegetable medley. She was very pleased with it. We had a bit of a wait for our bill, as our waitress was arguing on the phone in Thai for a prolonged period of time. When she finally did bring us the bill she was still on the phone. So, is this a place I would specifically choose when Im craving Thai food? Probably not. If similar circumstances presented themselves and we were standing in front of the place would I dine there again? Probably. Its not often you find a place that offers Jungle Curry.Grade: C+ (the ringer on your phone sounds like the end of the world is calling) drexlermcstyles.tumblr.com
Disappointing. With the high rating of 76% I thought it would be really good. I ordered the pad Thai and it was served very quick. The problem is that it had little flavor. The eggs were crunchy like they had been overcooked and browned. Maybe it was the cook today.
