If you’re at Spirit of 77, you better like sports… And if you do, well, this is the place to be. This is one of the most fun places in Portland to watch basketball and football games with fellow sports fans. Great food, even better local beers on tap, and an awesome crowd. Arrive early to get your spot, especially if you have a large group of friends. paperairplaneblog.com
Came in on a Saturday to watch some college ball and have a couple of beers. Liz waited on us and undeniably gave us the worst service that I’ve ever had. First our table was dirty and she gave us an attitude when we asked if she could clean it. Then she checked on us repeatedly within minutes and got mad when we weren’t ready to order. She walked away frustrated and complained to her co worker while she glared at us. We went on to order food and drinks and she walked away in the midst of our ordering. The experience went on….needless to say I wasn’t happy with my experience and won’t ever come back. Great place, good drinks, the food was horrible and the service was terrible.
Service is terrible. Never going back! I believe they allow servers to be so rude!
Your average sports bar. Sure, it’s a fun place to watch a game. There’s a big projector screen and there can be some rowdy high-fiving. Just what you’d expect in a sports bar. That being said, don’t expect great food. Burgers are average, and the wings are overpriced (6 for $10?!), as are most other things. $4 Happy Hour pints aren’t too bad though, and there’s usually good stuff on tap. So yes, go for the game, have a pint or two, but eat somewhere else either before or after. Your wallet and mouth will thank you for it.
Disgusting, cold, expensive, rude bartender. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Cold, metal, uncomfortable seats and cold metal table. Had to sit on my coat to stay warm. They had the audacity to charge $3 for a handful of popcorn. SERIOUSLY! An $8 glass of cheap, bitter wine served in a water glass. Their happy hour menu is an expensive joke. This was absolutely the worst restaurant/bar we have been to in Portland and we go out a lot. All of our friends complained about the rude bartender and about how much they spent for how little they got.
Hipsters? Yuppies? Douche bags? Small portions? $17 pitchers? No need to worry, they hot ’em all!
Ok but needs improvement. This place could be awesome; there is nothing near the Rose Quarter and no place to go after Blazer’s games. I think that a few improvements are needed. Areas of improvement:1. Need a cocktail menu. They will make you whatever you want, but you don’t always know what you want and the prices are sometimes a surprise, not in a good way2. Need a sign-up sheet for pop-a-shot and time limits. It’s super awesome that it’s free, but there are some pop-a-shot hogs and not everyone gets a turn. There should be a sing-up sheet and time limits, hour or so. 3. Get a soda fountain. They add $1.00 for every mix drink with a soda. Oh, and they don’t give you the can, so are essentially charging you 3 times for the same can of pop. Not a good way to make friends. This is one of those bad cocktail price surprises, turning your $6 cocktail into a $7 cocktail for a splash of soda. Very lame.
