Sushi for 2. Not terribly hungry? Order the sushi/sashimi combo, and split it with a friend. We added an extra soup and salad for only $2 more. They were flexible and let us substitute unagi for the mackerel, again at no extra charge. Even tho it was Monday, (chefs say never order fish on Monday) everything except the tuna was fresh tasting and nicely served. Service was quick and accommodating. The Morimota Soba Ale was yummy if you like malty beer, but a bit steep at $10 for 22 oz. Overall, a good experience. We would go back.

I really hate to give a bad review, but i couldn’t bring myself to eat the sushi that was part of my bento box. it looked very old, was dull, dry, and warm. when i mentioned to the server that it didn’t seem fresh, she just said that it was and that was it. the tsunami roll that we had as an appetizer was good. perhaps better when ordering something that is mostly cooked and served quickly? the chicken teriyaki box was fine, and the tempura in both boxes was pretty good.the outside tables were nice, and the service fine but would not go back as the gross sushi experience is too hard to get past especially when nothing else was memorable.overall, a very disappointing introduction to sushi in portland after moving from NYC.pros: location, outside tables, service (to some extent)cons: didn’t trust the sushi quality in the slightest
Consistent. If there is a constant at this restaurant, it is fresh sushi and slow service. I don’t suggest going there if you are looking to get in and out quickly; but if you are looking for good consistent sushi then this is the place. I haven’t been disappointed in the 20+ times that I have been there. My favorites are the Mia Thai, Hawaiian, Red Heat, Boston, San Francisco, Spider Role, one of the Crunchy Roles…ahh, the list goes on and on. They have a pretty extensive list of sushi which has made other sushi joints a bit disappointing when it comes to selection. My wife usually gets one of the Yuki boxes as their Tempura is light and flaky and a buddy of mine really likes the Dunburi (I’m pretty sure I spelled that wrong). I won’t comment on the Dunburi since I haven’t tried it as I go there for the sushi with a group of friends or get the yuki box with my wife.Another side note: If you go with a big group and looking to split the bill, this isn’t the place to go. They use to split the bill but I think they reduced it down to 2 credit card limit. Unfortunately it has slowed down our visits as we would show up with 5-7 people and order family style on the sushi.
