The historic building in which 4 Daughters is located is perfect for an Irish pub, there’s all kinds of seating available — from regular to high tables, the bar itself and lounge chairs around a low table. Service is friendly and attentive. The food is spot on for a pub — although I think there’s room to up their game and turn this into a gastropub. I enjoyed my fish and chips here, but I’ll still be searching for Medford’s best. We will be back to try other choices from their menu.
A Great Evening. 4 Daughters is located in a historic two-story brick building dating to circa 1910. The building was originally Bates Barber Shop but has been a bar for at least the last 60 years, known as The Union Club from the 1940s through 80s. History lessons aside, I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our reservations were for upstairs and I appreciated the effort they have taken to make this a vintage yet comfortable pub. In addition to liquor, 4 Daughters has a good selection of beer. I ordered the 4 Daughters Irish Brown Ale, a craft brew made for 4 Daughters by the Redmond-based Cascade Lakes Brewing. Its a decent representation of traditional British/Irish pub beer. For dinner I ordered their Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich, which was delicious. The amount of meat was just right and the Ciabatta bun was nice and soft. I ordered garlic-parsley fries with it and they were outstanding. My coworkers seemed pleased with their orders as well the menu is excellent, ranging from traditional Irish fare (Shepherds pie, Irish Stew, etc) to burgers and sandwiches. Our server was very friendly and helpful, offering to take our group photo to help us capture the moment. It was a great evening and Ill definitely come back on a return trip to Medford.
Not for the Irish. Nothing short of a small town want to be dance club. This is no Irish pub. The service was very poor, and don’t bother to complain, the manger is a little hispanic lady, that is rude, disrespectful, and doesn’t care about her customers. A legitimate complaint led to asking for the owners name and number. To which we were forwarded right back to the bar’s phone line, and told he doesnt have time to talk to us.Would we go back – not without some serious changes to management, and environment.
I thought it was way to dark! Not a Bar person anyways and the pastrami sandwich was tuff & bread was soggy with no flavor….. Sweet potatoe fries not good! Price $11.00! Way to much! My advice if you want a beer and want to be depressed go there! I’m a chef and that’s my opion !
Garlic fries!! Yum. Every thing is good! garlic fries are a must.
The giant ruben sandwich and coleslaw made for a tasty and filling dinner. Good service too!
Mothra Says….Fried Foods and Beer. Mike tells me of a pub with good beers and great food if I ever travel down to or through Medford. So recently K and I find ourselves in Medford (as we do from time to time) and one evening we find ourselves in Four Daughters Restaurant on Main Street just west of the 5.We seat ourselves at a table near the bar and Craig our server swings by, welcomes us and drops off some menus. I asked for a beer menu but instead, Craig rattles off the beer selection. K says; wheres the Harp on tap Nope, no harp today. K says Ill have a Stella. What the heck, same for me. We peruse the menu and after a few minutes, Craig takes our order. While sipping this tall cold one, we find ourselves inside this old tall, long narrow building with a lot of character. Apparently built around 1903 I am told. Ten or so minutes later, a rather large basket of deep fried pickles arrive. Wow! These are hot and tasty. Not wanting to fill up entirely, we leave about 2/3rds of the basket full as Ks Cesar and grilled steak wrap in a grilled spinach tortilla served with sea salt fries arrived. My fish and chips platter with sweet potato fries and huckleberry ketchup, a dish of tartar sauce, and a dish of ground mustard arrived at the same time. The fish was three pieces of cod, with a nice fried texture, lightly seasoned, with an amazing huckleberry ketchup. K tasted this and said, yep, I can make this at the casa de Mothra. This is a good fish and sweet potato fries, piping hot out of the fryer. I use the dips for both the fish and the fries and this meal really hits the spot. K offers me a bite of her Cesar grilled steak warp and the dressing inside is very tasty without being overwhelming. Nice. Within a few moments I had scarfed down my 3 medium sized pieces of fish and about half of my fries. K, the lady that she is, was taking her time with the first half of her steak wrap. After a large glass of Oregons finest, I am good for the night. After dinner, we end up taking home half her wrap plus a bucket of fries to go. And dont forget the 2/3rd of those awesome fried pickles. I know what you are saying: Mothra, thats a lot of fried food! Yep, and it was good! Pluses: good food, good menu, pretty good service. Minuses: too many IPAs. No kidding, I would like a better variety of beers on tap. And there must be a harp on tap in an Irish pub. Mike thanks for the referral and yes indeed, well be back as there are too many great items to choose from: burgers, ribs, and that great looking lobster mac n cheese. Fried pickles, two beers, two entrees, out the door with tip at $48.00 Mothra says, 3.25 of 5.0
