Creative, but not consistent. Downtown Market has a limited and unusual (if not downright exotic) menu. I’ve had two very good lunch dishes (Caprese Sandwich, Tomato Basil Soup) and two pretty bad lunch dishes (Prosciutto, Roasted Pear and Cheese sandwich, Split Pea and Mushroom soup). It’s a very small place and the lunch wait can be long. They do have a good assortment of wines and other beverages. Given the limited food selection and the 50/50 track record, I’m not sure I’ll go back for a third visit.
One Of The Finer Dining Experiences In Medford. Lunch is served M-F and a multi-course fixed price dinner, requiring reservations, is served only on Wednesdays. Owned by a friendly husband and wife team, this downtown Medford market has an intimate kitchen and dining area in the back that can accommodate approximately 20 people. There is also a patio area available if you prefer to sit outside. The menu changes weekly and offers a couple of choices consisting of main dishes, sides, soups, salads or something off the grill. Excellent selection of wines, craft beer and desserts. I sat at the lunch counter and enjoyed being able to interact with the owners/chefs and watch them prepare my meal and see the fresh ingredients being used. I went with the Italian Sausage Sandwich Plate with Peppers, Onions, Provolone plus the market baked beans and Chicken & Summer Corn Chowder with Avocado-Tomato Relish. I washed it down with a basil lemonade. The changing menu, fresh ingredients, intimate setting, friendly owners and outstanding food make Downtown Market Co. one of the finer dining experiences available in Medford.
