Meatball sandwich. Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I made a habit out of buying meatball sandwiches here, back when Rosario Bonfiglio was still operating small Italian deli at this location. Fast forward 20 years…I stopped by Dec. 26th after spending Christmas with my wife’s family and picked up a meatball sandwich. I found out that in 2001, the business was sold to Michael Hogan, older brother of my grade-school best friend Jeffrey Hogan. And, to my delight, they’re still making great sandwiches (as well as a wide variety of award-winning Italian food). The sandwich is done right, on fresh Italian bread with a generous portion of meatballs in red sauce, with provolone and pepperoncinis. I highly recommend it.
So-so. Cute little place, but the food is average. The service was fine, and I did return a couple of times to try something different each time. I don’t give it a thumbs up and I don’t give it a thumbs down. I’m still in search of a great Italian restaurant. This one is forgettable.
Bolognese * saunce. Though overall ill cross my fingers hoping that Rosario’s turns it around. We need help support local small businesses in this valley.06 Oct, 2012Horrible very slow service even with the restaurant being dead empty , must have been a sign. The bolonse tasted like it just came right out of a can , just seemed everything about the meal was not fresh nor homemade. This Americanized Italian food which is a complete joke.
Tomato-Basil soup. We ate there the other night after reviewing the ratings here and those of other Italian Restaurants. I asked if the Tomato/Basil soup was made with fresh tomatoes and was told yes. I have eaten a lot of Tomato/Basil soup and this was not fresh and if it was I don’t know how they could have ruined it so much. It had a pasty texture and pasty flavor and no fresh flavors at all needless to say I was very disappointed. As for the rest of our food it was good I would say 7 out of 10 rating.
Great owners. Very good food. Good service. Been going for years… Consistent solid experience. Support local eateries!!!!!
Went last night. The veggie pizza (see picture) was excellent. We ordered rosarios merlot, and 2 canollis to go for dessert. They were so rich and the perfect size. Very good!
One of our favorite local spots. Love their calzone!
