I’ve been to shinsei a few times and they’re consistent. I am nuts for the red crap jalapeo popper as an appetizer! It’s awesome. We usually split the combos and are satisfied. I’m not a superfan of crazy rolls with lots of sauce so can’t speak to those…their more basic rolls and the sashimi are yummy.
Portions of food. We had lunch for $10.95 for bento box. Food was great. A week later we went for dinner and paid $4 more. However, we were served same as lunch. Why are we charged more without getting a bit special? We won’t go back for dinner. Too overpriced!!! Sure we were not happy to pay the $4 additional.However food was excellent!!!

I took the wife, mom, and 7 month old son there last night. Great food and great service. The servers are pleasant and responsive. Always ask for Colleen if she is working. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Speaking of quality it is top notch. The shrimp roles with avocado are excellent.
Very average. Not the best atmosphere. Misoya or Umi are way better.
