A MAJOR dive bar. Very dirty, greasy feeling. I really felt awkward just sitting in the booths, they are gross. I was treated as if I shouldn’t be there since the restaurant was slow and the bar was busy with people trying to pick up other drunks. PDX got tired of the drunks pulling into the front across double yellow line lanes on 82nd, so they put up curb borders and they still try to do it. Some got their suspension ripped apart. HA HA. The parking lot always has broken glass, garbage thrown from people and homeless people trying to live on the property. If that’s the case, then even the homeless felt it was crappy enough for them to live there. I never see homeless people try to live in front of nice homes or business’s. (west side) It’s always the Harbor Freight’s, Mc Donald’s, Dive bars and Restaurants that look like crap. There is ALWAYS an older woman at the corner holding a sign saying she’s 80+ years old and needs you to take care of her finances, or this younger couple holding signs saying they need money for munchies and pot. Those are the types that feel this restaurant is as low as them. BTW, the sign up front has most of the neon out, broken front windows, distressed paint on the building, etc. This place either needs to go, or close for a million dollar renovation. And since the owner don’t care, it’s going to just collapse on itself. But even if it does, Portland bureaucrats wouldn’t do a thing about it, they like Portland to look and be like the homeless… useless and disgusting.
Been meaning to leave this review for a while. I went there a few months back. It was evening time. We (party of 5) opted to eat in the bar. Mistake!!!. The scene was seedy southeast druggy meets jail inmates loud and over drinking. African american karaoke jockey was making inapropriate comments to the heavy white girls in the room. (His form of hitting on them I think) while we were there the police came in looking for the bartender / manager who conveniently disapeared when they arrived. The waitresses said he wasn’t working and they left and all the regulars laughed and did high fives. The service was average, the food decent, but I would not go back nor recommend. The asian staff was polite, but the manager/bartender and kj were trashy and the clientel reflects the staff.
Just your neighborhood chinese joint. I should not eat at Chinese Village as often as I do. I find that it steals my joy a little bit. That’s because we go to the Village with the exciting promise of tasty, tasty, cheap and satisfying (albeit Americanized) Chinese food. And three drinks later, I’m stumbling out the door with a bag in hand. And nine hours later, I’m waking up in my bed, feeling the woozy effects of alcohol, and wondering aloud if we’d even eaten that tasty, tasty, cheap and satisfying (albeit Americanized) Chinese food. The answer is always yes, and the sticky plates on the table with chopsticks and little bits of rice confirm the story. But there is no memory to behold of the crunchy, squishy crab puffs dunked in that tangy sweet & sour sauce, nor the joy of cracking open the fortune cookie to see what the future holds. It is a great place to get a cheap drink, full almost to the brim with liquor. I’m no spring chicken, and 3 is all I can handle. It is also a great place to get that tasty, tasty, cheap and satisfying…. ah you get the point. Go there. Eat, drink, and be merry (probably in that order, should you hope to hang on to the joy of the memory of a Chinese meal well spent.) Oh, and they have karaoke! A lot!
Decided to check this place out and I should have just keep on driving. The General Taos Chix and Mongolian Beef were terrible and bland, not even the least bit spicy, I’ve had spicier mild food. The service was nice but that
