One of my favorite restaurants in town. Perfectly prepared food at a reasonable price. I always get the green goddess salad with the flawless soft poached egg on top. Parking can be a little challenging on weekends on the side streets. Sometimes hard to get into in the evening.

Yummy smoked tomato soup. Skip the onion rings. Doughy and little flavor. Couldn’t taste any onion. Good biscuits. Tasty pancakes and bacon. Double burger was a little flavorless. Chicken fried steak was so-so. Nice waitress.

I’ve now eaten at Country Cat three times: once for breakfast and twice for dinner. Breakfast was very good but not anything outstanding. On the other hand, the dinner items we had were outstanding! The corn chowder was light, interestingly seasoned, and tasty, not heavy and creamy the way so many chowders can be. Yummy! The biscuits were superb. Good salad. Yummy collard greens. Nice wines by the glass. Service was friendly. On a Saturday night, service was slow and not as attentive as it could have been — we waited a LONG time (over 30 minutes) for salads, collards, and biscuits, items which really shouldn’t take that long. By contrast, on a Sunday night, service was attentive and efficient, food promptly served (within ten minutes or so, which seems reasonable given that we had just soup and biscuits that night).Atmosphere is very pleasant. Seating is hard — wooden booths without cushions, but comfy enough for an hour or 90 minutes.

We saw the Country Cat on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. We were getting hungry watching the episode. The food was on point! I had the chicken and he had the whole pig. We took home some meat candy as well. @B-Mac Lagasse

This is the place if you want a hearty brunch with leftovers for another meal. I tried the country fried chicken with bacon pecan spoon bread and greens. The breading on the chicken was crispy. My husband had the Denver omelette and he loved it. We also had Bloody Mary’s which have vegetables and jerky. Next time I will pass on the jerky. The service was good and they do take reservation.

Delicious! Went there for brunch-I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with a biscuit on the side and my husband ordered the country fried steak. Pancakes were amazing- I didn’t even use the syrup that came with it. Country fried steak was massive- the gravy had a little sweetness to it. The biscuit was the star of brunch- I could honestly just order a basket of biscuits and be content. It came with apricot jam which was fantastic! We had to sit at the bar which I normally hate but the bartender was very attentive in spite of how busy he was.

Met High Expectations. This place has been on my must-try list, and I met a friend here for an early dinner. So glad we did! We were there just before they opened, so we were seated immediately. They also had a large group come at the same time, and it seemed they were quite prepared for them and it did not affect service. Unfortunately, my review is delinquent: I ate here in March 2015, and by the time I finally got around to writing this, the menu has changed so I do not have the exact names of dishes. I ordered an appetizer of fried Willapa Oysters on a mix of potatoes in a perfectly balanced sauce. I followed that up a salmon dish (that day’s special, as I recall), and that was one of the most perfectly, tenderly cooked pieces of salmon I’ve had. The skinless bottom had a lovely crunchy crust and the inside was creamy smooth. There were amazing croutons and greens accompanying the dish. If I still lived in Portland, I would frequent this place. As I was leaving through PDX I noticed that they are opening another location there. Glory! I’ll be back!
