I know pancakes. This is a sad take on the original Pfannkuchen. It’s overpriced and doesn’t taste as good as it should. Americanize an original? Doesn’t work. It could carry a different name and would do better, I my opinion

The best breakfast in portland!! It’s a family tradition to have Sunday breakfast there and it is always good and consistent. Had the apple pancake and was amazing while there coffee is good too. Expect long wait times on the weekends but it is definitely worth the wait. The price is on the high side but worth it over all. Staff are friendly and attentive. Will be back for sure.

A special place. I have loved OPH since I was a kid. As they are a national chain, I was able to enjoy them living on the east coast, so it was a treat to be able to visit the original location. The restaurant is small and you might feel cramped, but the food comes out quickly once ordered and the servers are friendly and work around you. You may have to wait a while on a weekend morning, because they only have a few booths and tables. If you are dining solo, they have a big table in the center where you can sit community style and usually not have to wait. The other reviews are correct: it is expensive, but you get a tremendous amount of food, and for two dollars, you can share your meal with someone else in your party and you will both have plenty to eat. The quality of the ingredients they use is evident in the flavor. The bacon is thick sliced and high quality. They make their butter and whipped cream daily on site. Try their hot chocolate with the whipped cream and see how good it is. The pancakes are amazing and practically melt in your mouth they are so soft and light. Their coffee is good, but in my opinion not worth $3.25, so I will pass on that next time. Absolutely come here for the experience at least once and then decide if it’s worth a return visit. You will be glad you did.

Not cheap but….. Good gravy (literally) this place knows breakfasts! The Benedict’s are all awesome, the option to have a couple pancakes instead of taters or toast is not to be missed. The prices will shock you… but for a truly amazing breakfast this is the real deal.At a dollar a slice for bacon I thought NO WAY is there piggy worth that… and yet, I’d order it as a side again. Four THICK slices cooked perfectly, nicely crisp but not burnt crisp. But OMG the pancakes… sourdough pancakes that rival and surpass any I’ve had since my dear Aunty made them for me in the wilds of Alaska.OK, this is a bit disjointed but let’s get back to the Benedict… the traditional if topped with the best of the best Hollandaise, it is truly drool worthy. And with a side of pancakes… awesome.Did I mention the pancakes? There is a reason for the name of this place, the pancakes are not to be missed. Oh.. and the coffee while crazy expensive is one of the best restaurant cups of joe I’ve ran into. But above all… try the pancakes.

Well worth a visit.. We went on a Wednesday morning which I assume is far superior to a weekend morning simply because it’s not swamped with hungry people. The service was excellent; friendly, quick, and professional. The food was good. However, I’ll split a breakfast with another person next time I go there. I ordered an omelet and it was huge. I mean it was HUGE. For a moment I could swear it was alive and breathing. I assumed it was a three egg omelet, but when I asked I learned it had six eggs. I ate half and hated throwing the rest away (leftovers just sit in the refrigerator until…….well, let’s not get into that……). So, I think you’ll have a good meal, but like I said, split it with someone, the portions are massive. By the way, they don’t take debit or credit cards. Cash or check only. If you find yourself without the cash, there is an ATM at the gas station next door and at a store across the street.

Not worth the wait. The wait was super long. I ordered Vegetable omelet and it was very plain and tasteless. They should of added at least salt and pepper. I was very upset. My husband ordered Tahisian crepes and those were delicious. Other people ordered pancakes (blueberry and banana) and they didn’t like them. I don’t think it’s worth and hour and half wait.

Yuuummmmmyyyyy. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had. I wish i could have sampled everything, but I don’t need to go into a coma yet. I’ll focus on coming back time and again. Great ingredients are a huge deal for these folks and it comes through in the quality of the food. The berries and cream were astounding. Must go back, must make the time.
