First clue that I should not have stayed to order was the sticky table. I laid my paper napkin on it and it came away in pieces as parts of it stuck to whatever substance was on the tabletop. Yuck. Next clue was the poor service – took forever to come back and take the order after leaving some chips and pico de gallo. (Had to ask for some spicier sauce – they have habanero and chipotle.) Went ahead and ordered anyone – started with the guacamole they make at the table – and, I will say that was the best part of the meal. The two tacos I got – one was carne asada and the other was shrimp – both lacked flavor of any kind. The protein had no spices, the taco lacked any kind of topping – no cheese, no lettuce, nothing. And, the tortillas fell apart as soon as I added the sauce so that I could get some flavor. The service was not very attentive and the food was bland except for the quac. Unless I want fresh, made-at-the-table (which needs to be clean next time) guacamole, I won’t be back anytime time soon.
All hat, no cowboy!. A cooked until dry chicken breast covered in tasteless poblano sauce (didn’t think this was possible) on a plate with a large pile of plain white rice is called authentic (non Tex-Mex) Mexican food. On my various trips to Mexico I’ve never encountered a meal so bland … I must have visited the wrong places!
