Although good review here, I agree to most yelp reviewers that the food on the salty side, bland and nothing special. Overprice and not worth to eat dumpling here since you can buy exact premade at costco. Its exact same dumpling.
Consistently yummy!. I have been fortunate to live within hot plate’s delivery zone for quite a few years, and have often had them deliver, and I have also dined in.The restaurant is clean and modern and the service is prompt and friendly.The food is always fresh and well cooked. I’m obsessed with the broccoli chicken- tender meat, delicate sauce, and perfectly cooked fresh broccoli. My husband always gets orange chicken, that is what he ALWAYS orders when we eat chinese food, whether we dine in downtown portland, order hot plate, or pick up safeway chinese food. Hot plate’s orange chicken is obviously waaaaayyyyy better than safeway, and is fair competition for the fancy asian bistros downtown. The food is never too greasy or too fried, it always tastes fresh and light.

Everyone was friendly the restaurant was clean and the food was delicious!I would recommend for an intimate dinner, casual lunch or to food to go…(which of course we did take some home…lol)Enjoy….we did!
HOT PLATE AT HOME. DELIVERY ORDERMy first experience with Hot Plate Asian Cuisine tonight was with a delivery order. My wife and I had been looking for a good Asian/Chinese restaurant to order delivery from whenever we didn’t feel like going out. I noticed Hot Plate’s delivery driver on my street one day and we both decided to give it a try. Fortunately, we lived within the restaurant’s delivery area which apparently is really limited. In addition to the limited delivery area, the restaurant only delivers between 5-8:30pm. The employee who took my order was very friendly on the phone and seemed knowledgeable and efficient. He told me that the delivery would take between 30 and 45 minutes and that there is a $3 delivery charge. Our order arrived at about 48 minutes, which is acceptable.CUSTOMER SERVICECustomer service was very friendly on the phone. The delivery driver was extremely friendly and pleasant as well. Despite the limited interactions for a delivery order I was really pleased with the professionalism and courtesy of the employees.FOODMy wife and I ordered the Appetizer Platter, Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and the Pineapple Rice. The Appetizer Platter included BBQ Pork, Fried Shrimp, and Spring Rolls. The BBQ Pork was moist and delicious. I was left wanting a little more BBQ flavor but overall I really enjoyed it. The Fried Shrimp was perfectly done, cleaned and cooked well. I was impressed that they didn’t over batter it before putting it in the fryer. The Spring Rolls where clearly made from fresh ingredients or at least they did not come off as being pulled out of the freezer. The Sesame Chicken was very flavorful, and again I compliment the cook for not over doing it with the breading that we consumers so often encounter with Asian dining. The Mongolian Beef was absolutely wonderful! I love the balance of green and white sauted onions with this dish. The Pineapple Rice was just as good as the previous three courses. We ordered the chicken version of the rice and I really enjoyed the large moist pieces of chicken stirred into the mix. All of the courses had just a hint of spice and heat (just the way we like it). It was clear the chef uses fresh ingredients in combination with great skill to demonstrate a love for cooking.VALUEOur entire order rang up to $42.45 including the $3 deliver charge but excluding the tip we gave the driver at the door. Overall, I was really impressed with our meal and was left feeling as though the price was very reasonable.OVERALL RATING AND EXPERIENCEMy wife and I were both impressed with this restaurant. I give them a strong 4 stars out of 5. I will reserve the extra star for my next experience dining in. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant or having the restaurant return to use for all of our Asian food cravings.
Great food! I love it because after a long days work you can order then pick it up in ten minutes and spend the rest of the evening at home just chillaxing. Great service too!
Hot plate is very good! The fried rice and sesame chicken is to die for! Their delivery is super fast and always reliable! Great place to have or order dinner from!
Terrible. The won ton soup was the only thing that was decent. The spring rolls had no seasoning whatsoever in the filing. The sweet and sour shrimp was mushy and the shrimp smelled fishy. I threw most of the food away.
