Awesome. The wiener man Mike Cambell will happily abuse you. So many choices of sausage. Not sure why to have tell mike how your feeling and he’ll make what you’ll like.

The real deal. No grocery store sausages here…all made in house by Mike. Well worth the commute down from Salem for really good hand made sausages, hamburgers, pinwheels and bacon. And you can get a beer to wash them down with too! Paradise on a bun.

To Go Or Not To Go?. …That was the question. For years I have heard the legend of Pepper Tree Sausage House… As the story goes, on one side of a raging river (Metaphorically speaking of course) have stood many-a-hungry persons; on the other, a wonderland of fresh sausages for a reasonably affordable price. Legend tells of a sausage troll who dwells under (and owns) the only bridge crossing the river. I had heard this troll could cut down the most valiant of hunger-knights with just a few snide remarks.Today, overcome with a craving for ground and spiced meats, I knew it was a journey I had to take. When I pulled in the parking lot around 12 today, the place was empty. I will admit that I was a little nervous walking into the small red building. I traditionally have a zero tolerance policy for bad customer service (see my Sam city review) but didnt want to throw the baby out with the bath water and decided to give the restaurant and the owner a fare shot. Upon entering, I was greeted by the owner. He was (hit dramatic music)…. downright friendly. I was floored, not only was this guy not a troll, but he was nice and took time to explain a few of the different sausages to me. I settled on the Portuguese Linguisa with heavy sauerkraut. My meal arrived on a toasted bun and the owner directed me toward the condiment bar where horseradish, onions, pickles, ground mustard, and all of the other acid-reflux causing items were located. The Linguisa had a really nice Hot and Spicy kick to it which was perfectly cooled by the fresh sauerkraut! As I ate my meal, my eye caught a clipped letter to the editor on the wall that spoke of the same things I had heard, In essence that the owner is a grumpy old fart. I thought it was funny that he had it hanging up in his dining area which leads me to believe that this man is, perhaps, just misunderstood. I will most definitely be back. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you give em a taste.

I’ve been boasting this place up…… To my brother for 5 months! No more procrastinating! Today I got him in my car and we drove to Albany.Again, I saw little evidence of the legendary irascibility of the proprietor. He seemed perfectly friendly to me. To tell you the truth, I feel a little slighted, still not having witnessed his reportedly troll-like behavior. Also, I am happy to report that the housekeeping, which I viewed with a rather jaundiced eye during my last visit, was perfect today. The place sparkled. We decided to split, one each of, the Cajun Rude and the Cracked Pepper Beer Sausages. The first spiked our spiciness meters. Kelly thought it was a little too spicy for him. I thought it was very good. The Cracked Pepper Beer was milder, but oh so flavorful! Both were served on grill-toasted French Rolls. Any condiment you could possibly want was available, including real Horseradish, Dill Mustard and grilled Sour Kraut.A young man near our table was having a Portuguese Linguisa which threw him into fits of rapture. You can bet that one’s on my list for my next stop by.I had to buy a pound of the Cracked Pepper Beer Sausage to take home. (SWMBO will chastise me. Her daintiness gained a couple of ounces last week and is on a mission.) The title I once bestowed on Mt Angel Sausage Co. as the best in the valley has changed hands. It now belongs to the Pepper Tree Sausage House in Albany!11 Jun, 2011No curmudgeons here!. The guy wasn’t gushingly friendly, but was certainly courteous. We too were serenaded with a little Dean Martin sing-along. As mentioned ad nauseum, the place is miniscule with only one table and a hand full of chairs along two exterior wall counters. The place could definitely have been cleaner. But the sausages.Oh mercythe sausages were amazing. SWMBO and I shared a German Bratwurst and an Andouille Cajun. They both came on toasted French Rolls with Crinkle Potato Chips. We selected Tomato, Onion, Kraut and Deli Mustard. (I had a few Jalapenos on the side.) I have been and am a faithful lover of Mt Angel Brats for some time. But these were good enough to make me feel like a philanderer! This place has a good selection of both fresh and smoked Sausages. It also has Burgers, Deli Sandwiches and Soups as well as Breakfasts. I snuck a peek at a couple of the latter at the next/only table and they looked fantastic. I’ll be checking one out in the not too distant future. Twenty minutes worth of housekeeping before they open and this place would be just about perfect.

Awesome!. We went to this little restaurant with about 5 people and took up the tiny table inside. We fit but barely. it’s small but the food is GREAT! I really enjoyed my sausage which was one of the garlic ones. I bought some sausage to take home because I was so impressed. My friends and I had an open fire BBQ while we were camping with the sausages we bought and really enjoyed them. I would go again.

Mixed. This is a VERY small place and really should only be used to get food to go. I think the food was good, but I was distracted by the cook who I thought was abrupt and somewhat rude. I ordered a jalepeno sausage that was at least average. I remember them having good bread. They also have a wide variety of sausages that you can have as a sandwich or to take home to cook.

Out of the way and tiny, but great sadwiches and sausage and worth the effort. Owner/cook tales great pride in his work and meals. The place is so small that interacting with the staff and other customers is not only unavoidable, but half the fun.
