Good food, good service, great music (didn’t hear while outside. My husband and I wanted a seat outside. Got one after about 10 minutes and sat right behind a parallel parked old SUV. We stared right at it, no view of the area. Only downfall.
I ordered the rockfish with oyster mushrooms, fingerling potatoes with a pesto sauce. It was delicious! The portions were generous at a reasonable price. The bartender was very knowledgeable in mixed drinks. I definitely recommend this place
Pass the salt please.. I was totally bummed at the experience. Driving to 23 Hoyt in NW I noticed the neighborhood was bumpin’ people were busy walkin’ about and all the other restaurants were busy. Then I pulled up and entered. A couple people outside, few tables inside, upon entering the host greeted me (barely) and told me to choose a spot. It took a few minutes to get someone to the table to take my drink order, (don’t know why, there was plenty of staff wondering around), the waitstaff was so attitude-ish and blah. It felt like there was a grey cloud over the building and made me not even want to stay and eat.I did have the muscles with andouille sausage, the muscles were bland and the sausage was dry, there was not any fat content left; overcooked. The salad was fine enough. I just wasn’t interested at this point. I guess when I saw the host sitting down in the dining room by the front door, that was the nail that drove it home. Total bummer. The entire experience of 23 Hoyt needed more seasoning.
Good food, nice space, like the music. Not impressed with the service. I’ve been there 4 or 5 times. When dining with adults, I’ve found the staff slow and full of attitude. When I brought my kids (they have a kids menu and claim to be kid-friendly) the service was maddening. Not good with hungry children. I think I’m finished with this place.
WORST Service. Had reservations at 7:30. Weren’t served our simple meal of hamburgers until 9:30. No reason given. We were basically ignored. Wouldn’t go back if you paid me.
Spiffy space.. Greasy and uninspired happy hour fare.
Great atmosphere, iffy service. I went to 23 Hoyt after a couple of weeks of walking past the place, and initially, I was impressed. It has a great atmosphere with some interesting art pieces to look at, and the drinks are tasty and stiff. However, what started out as a pleasant eating experience quickly took a nosedive, as it took nearly an hour and a half to get our food, which wasn’t made to order, and even though we asked repeatedly for another drink, we were unable to get anyone to help us. Overall, I might revisit 23 Hoyt for happy hour or to meet up for a casual drink, but I probably won’t go again for dinner.
