I love the variety of different cuisines in the Nob Hill area. Dorio is a lovely cafe serving Greek food. I started my meal with sangria and the spicy humus. For my main course I enjoyed a bubbly and tasty Moussaka which was layered with lots of eggplant and topped with a bchamel sauce. For desert we shared a phyllo triangle filled with hot chocolate. All of the staff were attentive and welcoming.
My husband and I went to Dorio for a nice date night. We shared the hummus Platter which came with hummus, pita triangles, carrots sticks, kalamata olives, and fresh feta cheese. I really enjoyed the hummus is was a bit spicy and had lots of garlic. The hummus was drizzled in olive oil. I would order it again. My husband had a dish with lamb skewers, seasoned rice, salad pita and tzastki sauce. I had the moussaka which had a rich, creamy bechamel sauce topping. I tried all the dishes and thought they were all tasty and filing. I would recommend Dorio and would look forward to coming again if I was in the area.

Had a nice lunch here. The Bento was a bit bland but the salad was excellent and the lamb was super tender! Nice service and free Wi-Fi.
Lamb, Kalamari, and R/C…Oh MY!. My family and I had the privilege of eating a fantastic lunch at Dorios yesterday. I had heard very good things about this place and decided to check it out for myself. Since we drove from Albany, I didnt mind circling the block a few times to find a parking spot. As I walked through the door, after huffing and rolling my eyes at a yelp sticker in the window, I was greeted by a lovely young lady who led us into a fresh, comfortable, and slightly upscale dining area. We pushed tables together to accommodate our group of six and were given water and menus. After I gave my family strict orders to order something different than everybody else at the table, it was a mad scramble to find the best dish on the menu. I call the CJ Burger! my brother half shouted. (that kid would order a burger at the Alain Ducasse a u Plaza Athenee in Paris) All in all we ordered the CJ burger, the YaYa burger, the pastitsio, the kalamari, a beef Gyros (pronounced like year-Os), and a Lamb Gyros. Our appetizer was a splendid plate of sheeps milk feta and kalamata olives. Having tried a bite of everybodys food, I can say it was all wonderful. The two burgers were spiced with a Greek seasoning which gives a nice twist to a classic American food. The Pastitsio is like the Greek version of mac-cheese which is topped with a light and silky cream sauce. The New Zealand lamb in the gyros was some of the most tender lamb I have ever eaten and was not void of that classic lamb gaminess. The beef Gyros was good though I thought the meat slightly resembled strips of hamburger meat. The Kalamari was lightly breaded and served with a side of tatziki for dipping. (the waitress was happy to give me and extra) The sweet and creamy sheep milk feta was perfectly complemented by the salty kalamata olives!!! (I have to wipe drool from my chin from merely thinking about it). The waitress was very nice and even took time to explain to my younger siblings what R/C soda was (ahhh the blissful ignorance of youth). If you are in Portland and you get a craving for some food that will make you wanna slap your YaYa then head over to Dorios and give em a taste!
Dorio is a Greek restaurant where provincial meets metropolitan. I have never been to Greece or experienced a real greek cuisine but the soulful epicurian twist on the menu especially the mousaka makes me extremely satieted at least about greece’s wonderful diverse mediterranean tastes. Aside from the fact the dishes will make Any follower of Dr. Atkins happy, the service made my evening shine like the top of the chrysler building. With the attentive host/chef/owner/bartender at everyone’s whim, it’s no wonder this place is popular. The mousaka dish is an eggplant dish layered with a ground beef marinara sauce topped with bechemel sauce, a twist similar to a lasagna dish that will satisfy a homesick man’s taste and hunger. It is truly a very simple dish yet an amazingly complex cornucopia of summer eggplants that oneis reminded of. I will not hesitate to come back to this fabulous restaurant.
