Just OK…. The food was good, but there are other places in Portland that are much better. For a similar price, I would rather go to Meriwether’s or Veritable Quandry. They say the atmosphere is cozy, but to me it just felt too cramped. Overall, just ok.

Hugely Disappointed. My husband & I made reservations based on the information that Paley’s chef had beat an Iron Chef in the Spring. We have eaten at Meriwether’s, Southpark, Wildwood, Besaw’s, Pazzo’s and had decadent, flavorful, creative meals to die for. Paley’s was NONE of that. We sat for some time before we were even greeted. Once greeted, we ordered Winter Martini’s. The only bright side of the entire evening. Our salads were over-dressed. I ate part of mine, my husband ate nothing but one bite. I ordered the trout. One bite, dry, ate nothing more. My husband had pork. Same thing. One bite, dry, ate nothing more. We weren’t offered any options to resolve our unhappiness with the food. No remakes, no compensation. To say the least, we won’t be back.

Well we tried this for our anniversary. Good food overall with some real highlights. My red pepper chowder was good with a nice hint of heat. Sea bass good but not remarkable. Scallop melted in my mouth. Could have eaten a dozen of them. Desert was the real star, chocolate souffle with honey vanilla ice cream. I’m not a big chocolate fan but I’d eat that souffle every night if I could.

Top Notch Dining Experience!. We went to celebrate our anniversary and had one of the best dining experiences ever. We started with a cocktail at the bar which was well tended and stocked with higher end brands which we like. Once seated at our table, we were greeted by our waiter and offered a delightful amuse bouche of warm tomato-peper bisque. We ordered a sample of three appitizers with the help of our waiter. We sampled the pate, duck and beef tongue and were delighted by taste and presentation. Both our entrees were beyond our expectations. My husband ordered the steak and I had the elk. In a word, both were superb. The cheese plate selections and deserts we ordered were the perfect ending to our meal. My husband was delighted with their brandy selection and I enjoyed their house blend coffee. With their top notch food and service Paley’s Place is among one of our favorite restaurants and highly recomended.

Great dining. Love the coziness of eating at the bar here. The chef cares about what he serves here

Won’t go back. Been there twice. Wait staff unfriendly. One of our waiters thought veal was deer. The other waiter couldn’t care less. Bartender slow. Wife had her drink ten minutes before I got mine. Sweetbreads had no flavor in their breading. Hostess was friendly, but not overly so. Our impression was that they were more interested in turning over the table than enhancing our dining experience.
