Portland Diner. The prices and quality of food at this place on par with what I would expect to find at an airport restaurant. A shot of whiskey that costs $8 almost every where else in Portland is $16 here. The food is mostly flavorless. They managed to make 4 cheese macaroni that doesn’t taste at all like cheese and the smoked brisket has no smoke flavor. The service is slow and to top it all off the waitress ran my debit card for $100 more than she was supposed to and then tried to void the transaction, causing a hold on my checking account. She said nothing about it to me, instead embarrassing me in front of my friends by telling me my card was declined. I paid with a credit card, only learning of her mistake from my bank the next day. Don’t be fooled by the sleek decor. This is one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Portland. Downright awful.

Great service and good comfort food in a trendy atmosphere. What more could you want?

The rice in the red beans and rice was undercooked. Pulled pork was nothing to write home about. Collards were ho-hum. Most of all, I was shocked to be charged $5.50 for a bottle of Reed’s Ginger Beer! This Georgia boy wouldn’t go there again.

First visit was really good. We came back a week later and apparently they got a new chef who changed the menu, and now it’s not as good. Also – the server was really really snotty. Sad second visit. Which sucks because I really wanted to keep coming back. We’ll see. For now the snotty attitude and the new menu really turned me off.

Awesome place!! The BBQ is fantastic, the wait staff was so knowledgeable & the whiskey list is the most extensive I’ve seen as far as American whiskeys go. Any questions we had were immediately answered with detail and a desire to help, from questions about whiskey recommendations to questions about the food & food allergies. We will definitely be back every time we’re in town!
