I have such mixed feelings about this place. Came here over the weekend. Loved my waiter, he was adorable and so friendly. Loved the 80’s hair band rock music. Hated how filthy the place was. Like really filthy. The food was fresh, delicious, and cheap. It was the first time I felt I didn’t overpay for food in portland. I wish the owners would do some dusting!

We were quick to be greeted and seated, our server explaining the specials and bringing us water straight away. Once we ordered, our spinach and goat’s cheese omelettes came out pretty quickly. The gluten free toast was some of the best I’ve tried and the portions overall were very generous for the price. Prompt, quality service, delicious meals and good timing made our breakfast at Stepping Stone a faultless experience.

I have eaten here several time over the past few years. I admit only breakfast food. The quality and quantity is very good. The only negative is my waist gets bigger when I eat there…oh that’s right I have sweat pants, never mind.

Very yummy food & good quality. And super affordable. A very quaint unassuming restaurant. We ordered an omelet and the large stack of pancakes with strawberries & whip cream. The reason I only rated a 3.5 is because the staff were pretentious, the bathroom was VERY dirty, they forgot my coffee I ordered, & while waiting for a table you have to wait outside which isn’t great for a rainy Portland day. Which is most of the year.

Great breakfast! My family and I come here about once a month. Chicken fried steak is very good. I usually make a breakfast with the sides portion of the menu. Don’t forget the specials located on top of the condiments tray on each table. There is always a 15 to 30 minute wait but is worth it. Put your name on the clipboard hanging by the door outside. The place is small and a bit dirty inside with rock music jamming. Good service and you are not rushed to eat.

The stepping stone cafe lived up for its reputation white its roots goes back to the 1940’s when it was called D’s. No body now know what D’s for even though some dishes in the menu still carry the name. Really nice diner setting with welcoming staff and management. The food however was not as expected. The mancake was just a glorified piece of bread without the regular pancake flavor. The steak was good and tasty and the scrambled eggs was not special. I give them better rating for their homemade hash browns which was the bes I tasted and another high note for the Portland roasted coffee which was also delicious. If you are in town and need a breakfast, come here but don’t gets your hopes up.

The omlettes were good. Although the man cakes are famous, iHOP is way better in its fluffiness.Classic case of quantity over quality. Was the waitress annoyed?…I’ll never know.
