Great Family Business!. Great little Thai place with the unique addition of Lao food. Friendly service, easy atmosphere, good prices. I recommend the Miang Kum appetizer, the Tom Kha soup, and the Nem Khao. Their Sa-Teh is excellent as well.
Good Lao Food and Service. The people of Tara Thai are consistent in service and hover just enough to let you know you’re needs will be met. Their sticky rice is perfect and the owners are still true to their Lao roots.Order the Papaya Salad and get it hot.
If you are a fan of northern Thai food, this is the place to eat. Their Kaow Soi makes you feel like you are in Chiang Mai and the BBQ chicken with Kaow Neo feeds four, but you will always be wanting more. Please don’t order Pad Thai…branch out. This is a dish made for Farang in Thailand. Sit on the deck, drink a Shinga or Chang, and enjoy the scenery. Don’t be shy when you are ordering Thai.
Would not go again. Given the number of fantastic Thai restaurants in Portland, I would not visit Tara Thai again. I had not been there in about 6 years and decided to give it another try…and it only reaffirmed my prior experience– food has too much sugar and the service is inattentive and scarce. Go to Sweet Basil now in the NW for much higher quality Thai cuisine for a cheaper price( for lunch)
