First impression: good atmosphere, attentive staff, one even asked me how I liked my chai and it was delicious so he showed me the powdered Oregon Chai they use and told me where to find it at Cash n Carry. I stopped in to pick some up and read the ingredients, it has milk in it. I had ordered myself and my mom two chai lattes with almond milk. I even asked the waiter what milk alternative they had and specified almond milk. I phoned back to the restaurant to make them aware that they are serving a milk product to people that request milk alternative and the employee was not even slightly interested in this information and seemed annoyed I even called. When I asked him if that was all he had to say, he told me to call back after 3pm and speak to a manager. They close at 3pm. Needless to say, I won’t be going back and I spend a fair amount of time in Newport, since I have family living there. I also write reviews on eating establishments for the local paper. It was my day off while in there but I think I will give this review as a freebie. BEWARE: If you have a milk allergy, Cafe Stephanie does not alert customers that they serve milk products to customers who request a milk alternative.
This is a crazy popular cafe where the wait staff are filled with bounce and energy and the food is made in foodie heaven — or somewhere quite close. The home made hash with poached eggs was perfect. I missed the opportunity of photographing my plate because the hash looked a little dark and charred on delivery — but it was actually perfectly browned and once I had those custardy eggs running I couldn’t stop myself from eating. Definitely a place to go for breakfast.
Huge hot chocolates for the kids! My corned beef hash was delicious. Marionberry crepes were a little too sweet. Chocolate chip pancakes were a hit.
Great staff energy. Greeted me, quickly took my order, asked me a number of times if they could bring me anything else. Great coffee, delicious chicken sandwich, very reasonable prices. In and out in 20 minutes after disastrous attempt to eat at Nye Beach Cafe. Go here if you are looking for the real deal.
Love their scones they bring to you while you’re waiting for your food! One morning I came in and they were nice and hot the next time they were not but they were still tasty. I am visiting from out of town and this is one of the better cafes I have been to. The staff is very friendly and the food is fresh and tasty!
Super impressive! It was full when we came by for my friend’s birthday breakfast, but as soon as the owner(I believe he’s the owner) came over,was super friendly, and got us seated as soon as space was available. Plus scones instead of bread to get started on?! Umm yes. I’m very impressed and win eat here again. It’s an amazing atmosphere and food rocks it.
