Simple fare, tasty food, and decent-sized portions make for good value for money. Service was initially a little slow getting to us once we were seated, and I asked three people what a shrimp Louie was before simply being told that it was a salad. It was one of the featured specials yet seemed to be a mystery to many of the staff. I ended up ordering the crab & cheese omelette which was a little heavy on the cheese but nonetheless tasty and filling. This three egg omelettes, came with the choice of three buttermilk pancakes or hash browns and a choice of toast or Chalet coffee cake, homemade biscuit, or muffin. Hash browns were cooked just right, and the coffee cake was fresh, warm, and delicious.Overall we were all very happy with our breakfast and I would certainly go back. And if you’re not aware, the desserts are incredible! Their black-bottom pie, lemon meringue pie, and lemony lemon cake are all worthwhile taking home to eat if you’re too full at the restaurant!

Had Swedish pancakes and they were okay. My boyfriend had some egg scramble with hashbrows and it was so gross. Maybe we are breakfast snobs but I know we will never return.

Best Gluten Free Food in town. The owners daughter has Celiacs so they are very familiar with preparing food correctly for those with allergies. I had the BEST gluten free pancakes ever! They also have some gluten free baked items and gluten free items for every meal of the day! Awesome!

When I walked in I saw these yummy looking desserts that I thought I would have to try after dinner. I ordered dinner and ate a bacon cheeseburger that was alright but I was thinking of those desserts. After dinner I waited and waited for the lone waitress to come and ask me if I wanted a dessert. I waited so long that I got upset. Then I waited longer which got me irritated. The restaurant had three women working but only one was a waitress and the others helpers. The waitress walked by my table three times to help other tables but did not once stop to ask me if I wanted dessert. I finally had to ask one of the helpers to get my ticket. I then walked to the front and told one of the helpers that I was aggravated and that their waitress system was not working. I told the lady that they list business because I wanted more and she told me that she was sorry. Sorry doesn’t get me my dessert and they did not earn a tip from me.

Gluten Free!. Vacations are a drag when it comes to eating for someone who is Gluten intolerant or Celiac. I fully expected to have to explain to our waitress that I will need my food prepared away from everything else (the wheat field) when she handed me a gluten free menu and explained that the owners have Celiac family members and can take care of my needs. Whoohooo! I topped off a wonderful breakfast with a muffin and was blissed! Came back that night and very much enjoyed there other menu items.

Great place to eat. Spent a weekend in Newport. Had breakfast and dinner at Chalet and was very happy. The portions were good and cooked to my liking. The bakery is awesome. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. The owner is the main cook, his wife, son and 1 daughter also wait tables, the 1 daughter also is the bakery chef having gone to school in San Francisco. A must place to eat.
