Absolutely fabulous, great quality seafood for incredible prices and amazing friendly staff. The food is prepared right before you and your stomach has never been happier. A definite draw between the Cioppino and the Gumbo, Corky really knows his stuff. Best food in Newport !!
I was confused by the owners response as, I was incredibly kind and tolerant, even after her attempts to convince me that peppers (which I had specifically asked to be eliminated) were really zucchini… Yes, I was offended by her inability to just acknowledge there was a mistake and make it right. Not good to be rude to a customer. My parents who made your establishment a regular part of their visits vowed to not return after your less than acceptable attitude. Now, you attack my character which is rediculous. I was at your restraunt because you advertise that you are gluten friendly and my family wanted to come. When I called in advance to check with you regarding allergens you assured all was well … This was NOT the truth. Yes, obviously we were all at the wrong restraunt.09 Jun, 2014I have heard so much about this place & was so excited… Unfortunately, Not great!!! The chippino smelled good, I didn’t try it. They say they are mindfull of special requests and diet restrictions. WRONG. I asked for no bell peppers due to allergies the owner repeated my request but brought me a meal full of them. When I pointed out the mistake, expecting to be offered a replacement, she instead told me I was wrong, that the obvious slices of red and yellow bell peppers were actually slices of squash… Most deffinately NOT. She then avoided our table the rest of the night. I have cooked (and gardened) for over 35 years and quite clearly can tell the difference between a bell pepper and a slice of zucchini. She handled this incredibly poorly. Too bad that bubbly personality isn’t worried about customer service, satisfaction or allergens. I would NOT go back or recommend this for special dietary needs.
Sharks is the bomb. We found sharks about ten years ago. We only introduce our best friends to Sharks because We don’t want everyone to know about it. There are only a few tables. If you like fresh seafood you will love it. Nothing is deep fried. Very healthy. We usually get the Cioppino but sometimes I get the steamer clams or the fish of the day. Not inexpensive but worth it. If you aren’t into seafood and fish, there is nothing for you here.
Interesting place and people. Food quality was good, a little priced but worth a try. Reminded us of Newport 30 years ago. I’d eat there again which is my basic measure.
Best salmon and cioppino ever!. I am in love with the way they prepare salmon. And, their cioppino is the most delicious I’ve ever had. No fried food here… everything’s prepared right in front of you… so fresh. Great service and full bar, too. We recommend it to everybody.
Kept it simple with oysters on half shell, oyster shooters, and steamer clams! Server was great! Place is small and was warm but food was great and fresh would come back again
Sharks Seafood Bar, Nov. 7, 2010. Fish stews to die for. Owner Cairin (sp?) was more like a hostess at a party. Lots of enthusiasm and fun. She paid particular attention to kids at other tables. One of best seafood restaurants we’ve ever visited.
