We loved the food and service at the Shiloh Inn Restaurant in Newport. The Happy Hour appetizers were so delicious, especially the teriyaki beef bites and tempura green beans. Our favorite was the clam chowder. We tried various chowders in Newport and yours was the best, hands-down. Wish I had the recipe.
The worst prime rib dinner I have ever had. It’s such a shame because this Restaurant has so much potential, best view in Newport, but the dated decor and menu are only part of the problem. I enjoyed their happy hour and bar menu several times when I was in Newport last summer, and the service was great as well but this week I had their Friday night Prime Rib dinner and words can’t explain how horrible it was. It only came with mashed potatoes, and I wasn’t sure if they were instant or had been sitting around in the fridge for a week, either way they were ineatable , and the meat was of poor quality, impossible to cut or chew? The aujus tasted like dish water. Even the Caesar salad was wilted and tasted like it had old dressing on it. My waiter , Matt, never once asked me if my meal was okay, and in fact provided little to no service, it was the worst dinner ever, it went uneaten and I didn’t ask to take it home. Someone should have inquired about it. I won’t be back and I will not be recommeding this restaurant to our beach house guests.This restaurant needs to class up the place, change the name, modernize they menu and get a new chef. Oh and show Matt To the door . I’ve seen him bar tend during happy hour and I find him quite lazy an unattentive in the few people who do come in for a drink after work

I was so hungry that I ate about 1/3 of it and then couldn’t stand the smell so I stopped eating & told the waitress. She said that’s the way their cod smelled ~ she said it wouldn’t make me sick and she took 10% off my bill !! I did NOT get sick, but it was a bad experience .
