A Fun Night Out. My husband and I decided to eat out (a rare treat for us), and I remembered Stone Crest Cellars which is tucked away on Hwy 101 across the side street from Mazatlan and Rags to Riches. My husband and I are both gluten-free (I have celiac and he’s gluten intolerant) so we were a little wary. We checked out the menu in the window and were thrilled to see that there were several appetizers and entrees that we could eat. (At many restaurants most appetizers are a) breaded and deep-fried or b) served on toast points and we have to forgo them altogether.)Our server was friendly and helpful when we explained our restrictions to her. My husband had mussels in a tomato-cream sauce that was to-die-for, Shelby Salad (Prosciutto-wrapped prawns, peppered beef, mixed greens), bananas foster and coffee. I had potato-artichoke ragu, pork scallopini with asparagus, flourless chocolate cake and two glasses of chianti. Our bill came to $59.00. You read that right: $59.00. The food was amazing and the price was frankly unbelievable in this day and age. We live in Newport and it’s impossible to eat out that inexpensively, especially when you splurge and get two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts, two glasses of wine and a cup of coffee.With service, prices, and food like this we might venture out to eat a little more often.

Can’t miss checking out Stone Crest Cellars Bistro, great food I recommend the Italian Braised Rib and Sausage in tomato gravy outstanding! Terrific wine selection and the staff Laurie, Dennis, and Chef Cliff make you feel special the second you meet them!
