Yum, yum, and yum. The menu at Shanghai has changed a bit since my first viit, but for the better I think. By far, THE BEST FRENCH FRIES IN PORTLAND!!!!!Tiny, tender, skin on, crispy, not too salty….oh dear, lovely. Fabulous Happy Hour eats (2.00 off limited menu making their house made black bean burger with fries only 5 or 6 bucks if I rememeber correctly!) The staff is always friendly, though on busy nights you may have to wait 5-8 minutes to order a drink. It’s worth it though! Cheap stiff drinks and GREAT food. The Luna is a quesadilla stuffed with rice and beans served with pico and sour…. I can never finish one to myself! The noodle bowls are a hit and miss, for the price they charge I would like to see more regularity in the portion sizes and sauce content, but they do fry their tofu to perfection and have AMAZING sauces. Overall: Great service,pinball and pool, awesome happy hour, GREAT FOOD FOR A GREAT PRICE!!!!
Enjoyed the drinks.. Stopped in for drinks, ended up getting some drunken noodles before catching a plane home. I wasn’t impressed with the noodles, but the bartender was great and so were her drinks. The downstairs has a fun atmosphere for killing a few pints with friends.
Go Shanghai yourself.. This place is good in every sense of the word. The bartender June had the most friendly and adorable service I may ever have. The drinks were strong and the atmosphere is great. Other than the hideous fluorescent light above the pool table, they have nailed their ambiance. The food was also great. It was one in the morning and I ordered the Whang. It’s a rice bowl with your choice of chicken or fried tofu, and comes with an assortment of lovely vegatables. Other than the food, great service, and the drinks, they have the best arcade games. A few pinball machines, that aforementioned pool table, a dart board and my shamelss all time favorite Buck Hunter.
