Menu changes, not reflected on website. I’ve eaten at this joint numerous times. i always thought it was a little spendy for not much, but my BF liked it so we ordered out often. after not going there for a few months, i ordered some lunch yesterday. same stuff we generally get. i was surprised to see the bill when i arrived as the prices didn’t match the online menu. i asked if they had a new to-go menu and the fella said no, that their menu was online. i was a little pissed, but didn’t say anything, just made a mental note. upon returning home with lunch, i was pretty surprised to find that they no longer include tartar sauce, nor lemons for the fish, which before was always included (and seems like something that obviously should be included, not any kind of courtesy). so… more $$ for less stuff. i might be okay with that if the food was top notch, but it’s just greasy, bland, fried food. two thumbs way way down.cannot emphasize enough: GREASY, BLAND, EXPENSIVE.
Best Little Fish & Chip Shop in North Portland. The VERY BEST Fish & Chip Shop in town. Would recommend this shop to anyone. Service is wonderful and friendly. Made when you order the food, not ahead of time. One of the best thing in North Portland, Can not say enough for The Fish & Chip Shop
Not a bad little chippy. Great batter on the fish. Had halibut as the fish and it was fantastic. Cod also very good. We also has bangers and mash and both mash and sausage were very English. The sausage had that different taste and consistency that you find inthe uk. Good place to go.
Yeah the service is slow, the chips aren’t always as good as they could be but it’s the closest thing you’ll get to British fish and chips in the Portland area. They place is far from hard to find unless you assume it’s somewhere else. Funny, I never get offended if an owner comes into their restaurant and doesn’t personally visit with every table but that’s just me.
The fish was great! The service was so slow I was shocked. But the food made up for the terrible service
A Must for Comfort Food. The people are the real deal. My roommate and I went in for a large order to feed a house of five. We were told it would be twenty minutes and a beverage was offered. We accepted and watched a soccer game with a patron who recently came over from England. The owner came out to chat and was willing to let us by his last bottle of brown sauce when we asked. The waitress realized she’d overcharged us by a dollar and brought our money over. We hadn’t even realized her error. The food is great and I was pleased with quality of ingredients.
Awesome traditional Fish & Chips. Even better than you can get in the UK since Brussels messed with all the health & safety standards. It’s all cooked in the traditional style and tastes awesome. It’s super easy to find immediately off exit 303. Only advice would be to call and order ahead as everything is made from scratch to order. Seriously – best chips I’ve had in the States (I’m a Brit and have been here 8 yrs.) and even beats out the chip shop on Brighton Peir.
