Bluehour is a beautiful restaurant. The lighting adds to the atmosphere. I like the starting board of finger sized appetizers. The beet salad was beautiful as well delicious. I had the squid ink linguini with crab. I would have liked more seasoning on this dish but then I like highly flavored food.
Delicious!. My husband and I wanted to try somewhere new during Portland Dining Month. Bluehour looked interesting, so off we went. First off, the interior is beautiful. The noise level is surprisingly decent given high ceilings – we were able to talk comfortably despite a packed house. Our server was right there when we needed him but unobtrusive about it. The food. Oh, my. We had braised short ribs that were meltingly tender and flavorful. My husband wanted to lick the plate and I didn’t blame him. It was one of the best meals either of us has had. We’ll definitely be back.

Nice food much better
Overpriced & dry..go to Slow Bar. Their cheeseburger is incredibly overpriced and it is not quality. I almost choked on the burger because it was so dry (not sure why a burger is so dry???). The waiter saw me choking at one point and then proceeded to ignore me and check his hair style in the window reflection (REALLY? Dude there goes your tip). I found the beers on tap to be so poor and their cocktails…WOW, uh I love paying $10 for a ginger Ale with no whiskey in it- thanks Hipster bartender. Maybe not focus on your looks so much & get back to your drink making skills as that is the main part of your job. I will never go back to BLUE SOUR….Woops, meant BLUE HOUR. I say save some of your hard earned money- and spend it on the AMAZING Slowburger at SLOW BAR on SE Grand.
Favorite restaurant in Portland. In my opinion Bluehour is the best restaurant in Portland. I’ve eaten a lot in and around Portland. There are many great restaurants in the area but Bluehour has the most refined cuisine in terms of fine dining. The atmosphere is elegant but not stiff. Since summer 2011 Spago Alumni Thomas Boyce is the new head chef and the kitchen got even better. My favorite dishes so far have been the seared foie gras and the duck breast.They also have a nice bar area for happy hour and an outdoor patio where you can have lunch.
Heard rave reviews about this place. So when friend asked to pick a nice place, no matter the price, this was my pick. No matter how good was the food, the service was way below mediocre. Very pretensions. Had to ask for bread three times. Salt was not at the table and it took 5 minutes to get. My sons beer arrived 5 minutes after everybody else’s drinks. The waitress was snobbish and loped down when did not order wine. The noise level is terrible. The whole experience is Only 5 out 10. Not worth the $$$. This was in June 2010. Maybe they improved. I am not will to pay to find out. A disappointment.
