Delicious, fresh squeezed orange juice. Friendly staff. The corned beef hash with potatoes and egg was very tasty. Coffee cake and gingerbread scone were moist and delectable!
This is not the typical Portland hispterfoodie spot. It looks old, it has old decorations, etc. There are license plates lining the walls, along with chachkies (or tchotchkes) that you would find all over the country while traveling in a station wagon in the 1960s or something. But it’s charming. The service is impeccable. The servers are always filling your coffee and making sure you’re tended to. However, if you decide to go… and I can’t stress this enough… please try the biscuits and gravy. The gravy is phenomenal. I wanted to just eat only that with a spoon. It’s a comfort food breakfast that fills your belly and your soul.
This is a quaint little diner in the Pearl serving the classic American breakfast. I really enjoyed my meal. They serve you the right amount of food. imriche.com
What’s with a toilet?!!. We went with my two kids. Were trying to wash our hands before breakfast(don’t people do that anymore?) and there was a tiny tiny (think airplane) toilet thrue nasty kitchen- yack! Absolutely unhygienic, I wonder how this place wasn’t shut close.Food was so-so, I can do better at home. Very nice staff though .
Great little cafe, expect to wait 20-30 min for food ( it’s worth it!) and you may run into a line on the weekends, try a special or blue corn pancakes yum!
Funky Place. We went based on being featured on Diners Driveins and Dives. Quite the funky place. For the reviewer who complained that the coffee was served in a crappy garage sale cup missed the fact that the whole place is decorated in souvenir plates that were popular in the 50s and 60s. The cups were those that you would have bought touring the US. I had one from the California Redwoods and my husband got one from Texas. That is part of the charm of the place. We went on a Thursday morning and couldn’t believe how busy it was. Our coffee was refilled loads of times. The food was excellent and obviously homemade. While it is easy for restaurants to buy ready to serve biscuits, they make them on site. We both had excellent breakfasts and would definitely go to again.
1 Cup Coffee $2.50 NO REFILL. Food was marginal…..OK for the price I guess, NOTHING SPECIAL. Was surprised that for $2.50 you get one cup of coffee and they don’t come by to offer a refill. Finished my cup and set it near the edge of the table and it was IGNORED by multiple staff for the rest of our meal…….POOR SERVICE and OVERPRICED COFFEE……also the coffee was served in a $.05 crappy yard sale mug……they do have ‘ByWays Cafe’ mugs, but only for sale for $6…….otherwise they serve you a single cup in a NASTY mug for $2.50.
