I come here 2-4 times a week, for three reasons.1. Even though its conveyer belt sushi, the fish here is high quality. Its prepared a little nicer than the other Marinepolis locations, and of way higher quality than any other sushi train in downtown.2. It is unbelievable affordable. Easily half the price of Mio Sushi, and a third of the price of Bamboo.3. I feel totally comfortable eating alone here. In fact, most people on the conveyer seats at any one time are by themselves. Not only do I not have to feel guilty for taking up two seats and only being one person, but I don’t feel like I am on display to the rest of the restaurant because they are all behind me. portlandfoodbaby.com

This is a spot where you pay for what you get. You can’t walk into a place that is one of the least expensive sushi options (plates from $1-3) in one of the most expensive parts of Portland and expect anything out of this world glamorous. The service is so-so but because it is a sushi train set-up you pretty much serve yourself and order from the sushi chefs if you see something on the menu not on the train and they make it for you instantly. The sushi roll options are fairly simple and limited, though the nigiri is plentiful and tasty. Favorites include the seared salmon, house roll, tuna roll, albacore, and spicy scallops. If you can catch them with Uni (Sea Urchin) for $3 you have yourself a treat – though it is not always in stock or season. You can usually expect to pay $4-9 elsewhere for the same thing. Again, the quality here is not the best, but you and a friend can leave satisfied with a belly full of sushi for $20. I’ll take it.
