Why change something that isn’t broken….. Not only did they change things up without even a whisper to the clientele, they used and then let go a super chef who used to be one of the best in Portland.. like the clientele it’s all about them and not us… use and abuse.. must be the norm now.
Macarons are amazing!. I went to Nuvrei for the second time today for the specific purpose of getting their tasty macarons. Last time I went and the Macaron bar, (downstairs from the cafe), wasn’t open. Luckily my boyfriend and I managed to buy the last four Macarons in the cafe. That time we had gotten their tea flavored ones. There was an Earl Grey, and a Honey Chamomile, and two others I can’t quite remember. The honey chamomile one was absolutely heavenly. Today when I had my choice of what to pick, I got a raspberry, a blueberry, a salted caramel, and an orange blossom. The orange blossom was by far my favorite, followed by the salted caramel. If you go there, by all means, order something from the cafe, but DON’T forget to try the macarons!
Best french pastries I’ve ever had! Cinnamon danish is a must try
Fantastic food, fantastic service. The most impressive well priced French spot you will find in Portland!
The best almond croissant in the northwest. New upstairs space is bright, airy and has limited seating for eat-in. Now offering savory lunch options and mixes for their amazing chewy chocolate cookies.
Finally opened their larger space upstairs. Great pasties and cookies and now great sandwiches on pretzel bread – Yum. Very fresh. Fabulous salmon sandwich. Limited seating but yellow tables and chairs outside.17 Apr, 2011Best cookies and pastries in the Pearl. Small walk up counter in their wholesale kitchen so it’s strictly To Go only. Don’t miss the flourless chocolate cookie.
Simply the best. No menu. No tables. Uninviting basement location. Hard to see. Easy to smell from the street. It is really a distraction for te bakers to stop and take your to go orders, but these are the best pastries I’ve hound in Portland, period. Closest runner up would be the huge almond croissants at Whole Foods.
