I’ve had a lot of cookies in my day, but the salted chocolate cookie here was absolutely phenomenal. Seriously, words can’t do it justice. The whole shop is adorable with fresh blooms, crisp white tables and chairs, and pops of pink. A totally cute shop with equally as yummy desserts. Plus they serve alcohol so you really can’t go wrong. popcosmo.com
My afternoon was ruined by disastrous treats. The ginger pumpkin cheesecake tasted of grainy play dough and did not have any hints of ginger or pumpkin. The passionberry cupcake was a muffin with poorly mixed frosting, resulting in sugar crystal texture reminding me of sand. I took one bite of the Orange olive oil bundt cake and had to remove it from my mouth due to its chalk flavor. The staff was poorly trained and unorganized, causing long lines and confusion. The only way to save this place is a good manager and a talented baker.
A Bit Pricey, But Delicious and Celiac-Safe. This is a lovely small restaurant with an interesting menu and bakery case. We tried 2 savory lunch items and 2 sweets, with coffee and tea. The bill was a bit on the high side (I would rate this as $$), but the food was absolutely delicious. We would absolutely eat there again on our next trip to the area. Gluten Free, get it?. It seems that those who are disappointed just don’t get it. Ah, hello? Gluten-free! Of course there is going to be some differences, but my granddaughter loves the place because she loves desserts but can’t she can’t tolerate gluten. To her, this is nice place to visit when she is craving some cake or pie. If she is happy, then so am I. Period.
This place is adorable, but unfortunately the desserts we tried didn’t live up to the cute looks. We did go late in the day (after dinner), and I was disappointed by how few pies there were considering I was expecting it to be a pie place. There were only two pies available -peach bumble berry, and grasshopper. So we bought a slice of each. The peach bumble berry one had an offputting underlying taste that seemed like a rancid oil to me. I love pies, but only ate a couple of bites of this one and the rest sadly went in the trash. My husband had the grasshopper pie and thought it had a weird consistency (it was sort of like an ice cream yet didn’t melt at room temp.) We don’t normally try to seek out vegan and gluten-free foods, so maybe we are unfair judges. Maybe the yummier stuff had already sold out by that point in the day too, but I don’t think we’d return based on this visit.
Mediocre. The banana/coconut cream pie was not what I expected of a ‘cream’ pie–the crust was extremely hard and the ‘cream’ had a strange consistency. The pie was not frozen, but had the consistency/texture of a frozen price of pie. Seriously. The chocolate/pistachio cake was a-ok. Nothing to make note of. Again, could have been better. Why so harsh? One slice of pie at $8 warrants a thorough review of what I’m eating. Saint Cupcake is a block (or two?) up the street–their cake is amazing! If I had to choose, it would be St. Cupcake. Sorry Petunia’s, but my first trip was a flop. Maybe another time? Maybe.
Tasty but priced for the elite. Lovely store and owner, good pastries and food. Prices are sky high. I couldn’t believe one piece of cake cost $8. Too rich for my blood. I expect vegan places to be pricey but not this pricey.
