Old fashion roadside cafe with a farm stand. On the way into Salem from the coast. Seasonal peach milkshake was reminiscent of days gone buy. Had a Swiss mushroom burger with onion rings that were sweet and crispy. Wendy had the bacon burger with sweet potato fries. Nice friendly attentive staff in a fun old flareChillin in Salem chilltravelers.com
Wow! Their ribs are the best we’ve eaten. Ever. We’ve tried some great ribs throughout the country but these definitely stand out. Thickest cut meat w least fat and savory BBQ sauce does the trick. Thank you Cafe 22!

Meh…. I’ve been looking forward to trying this place for a long time. Today was the day.I was greeted fairly quickly but was disappointed that the server made me wait for an extended period of time while she spoke with a co-worker before she took my order.I opted for a scrambler. The base price for scrambled eggs, meat & cheese with toast and potatoes is $9.50. I chose sausage and added mushrooms and spinach. These additions were fifty cents each. Total for a basic scrambler: $10.50. The scrambler was decent but unremarkable. The potatoes were good but somewhat greasy. The meal was nicely portioned with the exception of the scant tablespoon of jam offered with the toast.I added a large tomato juice. I was stunned when I received the bill to see that the juice was $4.95! This was canned tomato juice (I saw the server open the small cans). I’d gladly pay that price for fresh tomato juice. But $4.95 for 12 ounces of canned tomato juice…come on!I don’t mind paying extra for quality food and service. But Cafe 22 West offered barely-acceptable levels of both. And a pre-tip bill of $15.45 for a basic breakfast is ridiculous in this market. I’m completely unimpressed and won’t be back any time soon.
Love this place the food is delicious, service fantastic, prices reasonable great outside dining in the better weather
Nice patio seating for a sunny breakfast. Summer is here and I am a patio seating junky when the weather gets good. Having lived in washington on the sound for some years, I really miss that summer treat. So I am always on the lookout for cute umbrellas that draw me in to try a new restaurant. Such was the case this morning, as we staked out a table on the patio for breakfast. Except for some highway noise, it turned out to be a great spot and the food was fine too. Had the egg scramble served with their very good non greasy potatoes and a biscuit. Coffee was just OK. I watched with satisfaction as containers of fresly picked and prepared berries passed by from the produce store into the restaurant to be served on the yummy looking french toast and waffles. I will have to return for that one of these days. I have not had lunch or dinner here, but I definitely recommend the breakfast. I will be returning.
