This resto is a personal favorite. The only thing I've not liked is their falafel, which is a little dry and grainy for my taste. Their dolmas are out…

Scrumptious!. Lunch was a pleasure – attentive knowledgable service, tender lamb and moist well seasoned chicken – amazing. This is a gem with fresh food, rich flours and outstanding coffee to punctuate the meal. Amazing!
Worst experience ever. The food was so bad that we couldn’t finish it. their bread must have been 2 weeks old. the service was the worst out of all this. we asked to speak to a manager and some guy said he was the owner and that if we don’t like the food we can just leave but we still need to pay for the food he said. honestly we did pay just to get the hell out of there. we felt our life was in danger with his anger face in my husband’s face. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU ARE MY ENEMY BECAUSE ITS HELL
AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE!!!. Great ambiance and even more amazing food. Everything from the hummus to the grape leaves to the chicken/shrimp were flavorful and delicious. This continues to be a our favorite dining spot in Portland….not only for the food but the friendly and attentive wait staff! Definitely two thumbs up!
Blah. We went in for dinner last night. The place was busy and usually this is a good sign. We ordered the Al-Amir Sampler to start. The Hummus was delicious as was the Baba Ghannooj. I didn’t try any of the Tabooli because I am not a fan. The 1 scrawny little stuffed grape leaf I had half of was kinda empty on the inside, and the 1 Falafel that the bf and I split was tasty. Dinner was sadly a mediocre experience. I ordered the Moe’s Special which is a combination of chicken, lamb and shrimp… the 3 shrimp were over cooked, the 3 bite sized pieces of chicken I got were over cooked the lamb was about 4 bites and it was cooked perfectly. The boyfriend ordered the Kharouf Mohammar again the lamb was cooked perfectly but there was little of it. Absolutely everything on our entrees was BORING and LACKING FLAVOR…I was looking for a salt shaker…Not to mention the waiter forgot to put our order in, so we waited longer than most to get our food. We weren’t offered dessert, but given the check. I took that as a sign. They got the Pita bread and Rice Pilaf right (plenty of that) if they had messed that up they would have received a worse review.
I’ve had better Lebanese. The real sin was the dried out bold pita bread.
There’s just no excuse for cheap dry flat flavorless store-bought pita bread at a Lebanese restaurant. This is Portland. A few blocks from here I can get fried pork rinds so fresh they are audibly crackling on my plate. This bread wasn’t that fresh 3 days ago.
My favorite restaurant in PORTLAND…for over a decade I have been holding life event celebrations, business lunches and ordering catering from Al Amir. Consistently great!
