Was excited to try the egg-cream soda in this fun appearing and tucked away spot (for those who have yet to experience an egg cream, they don’t actually contain any egg. They consist of chocolate syrup, milk, and seltzer water) but was very disappointed. Egg creams were popular in the 50s and 60s and done right beat any soda you might try (if u like chocolate). Unfortunately blueplate’s egg cream tasted of false and cheap chocolate syrup and they over frothed the milk. Additionally they should have asked if I wanted my milk and syrup blended. It sadly sat on top of each other in a complete mess. While they were trying to copy the ways of yester-days, it didn’t make the cut. As I sucked the fake chocolate goo thru my straw I died a little from despair. THE CANDY STORE IN BEND OREGON’s Sun River community does it just right! They do use full fat milk though in case you’re watching your waistline.
Simple and Good. If your the type of person that likes to go out to eat and have your ass kissed by your server and treat them like crap then this probably isn’t the place for you. I went there today with my girlfriend and had the stroganoff and a float, she had the sliders and a milk shake. All of it was delicous and way above my expectations. This place is very small and as I sat at the counter and watched the servers I could tell that service in this place is a hard thing to deliver due to the size and set up of the kitchen. The sliders here were maybe the best I’ve had in Portland, and that’s saying alot since about every place has them on the menu these days. We will be back for sure!
Loved it! We had the sloppy Jo sandwhich (amazing) and the sliders. The service was a tad unconcerned, but the food and drinks were spot on.
Pricey but good food and unique atmosphere.
This establishment is an embarrassment to the great show, Diners, Drive-in’s and Dives. The Food Network got bamboozled when they reviewed this joint. Stay clear.
The food was ok. Way to over priced, and horrible service, they even assaulted usjust because our drinks came when we wer done eating. I will never go back again.
Not the best place I have been to.. This place is what it is.
