We paid $23,000 to serve 250 guests at our Indian wedding. We were expecting close to perfection. Unfortunately, we got much, much less. As Good as it Gets (Cheryl’s on 12th) marketed itself on the idea that it is a custom caterer. As such, we were excited to book them after we perfected the perfect American/Indian menu for my wedding. We did three tastings and finally had the food the exact way we wanted. Deblin and the cook were so confident and, in turn, we were too.Sadly, this confidence meant little. First, the food was nothing like we had tried in the tastings! The rice was soggy (it looked like mashed potatoes), not to mention that there was barely any food on the plates! We also had passed appetizers and no one could barely even tell as very few passed appetizers were even passed out! In fact, I overheard servers talking about how they were eating the appetizers themselves far before appetizers were supposed to be served. Some servers even told guests that they had run out! Samosas that we ordered came in ugly triangles instead of the design were were shown. The flavor was off too! The tandoori chicken was awful as well. I was very embarrassed at the food and the lack there of!Second, we paid for tea service and for tea. The service was never provided and the tea kept running out without any refills. In addition, we ordered specific teacups and instead got mini cups. People could barely get a few sips worth of tea!!Third, when I confronted the caterer post wedding, they refused to accept blame for the false advertising and instead tried to charge us close to $200 in breakage fees (despite what the contract said!). In between emails, they would take 10+ days to respond. Ultimately, they gave us a $150 refund for the teacup blunder and did not charge us for breakage fees (that were their own server faults!!)I am so utterly disappointed. Buyer beware. Don’t trust what you see at the tastings! Don’t trust the fake confidence and niceness. Expect less food than you purchased. Expect no refunds. Every penny of my $23,000 was wasted. We could have served amazing food from another caterer for far less and actually could have had quality food.
Pass, should have just kept walking. There are at least a 100 great restaurants within a few blocks of this place. Service at the door and at the table left a lot to be desired. Food was ok and the decor was nice, but just a bad experience.
