Interesting place and a great wine selection. I ordered the pasta and though it looked very weird, it tasted great. The dessert was a bit dry, but the coffee helped a lot.
Good concepts but poor execution. Very slow and unapologetic service. Food flavors good but overpowered the main items. Too many better choices out there.
Classic and consistent. We were able to finally get back to Higgins after at least 10 years. We were able to go before the theater and they were very attentive to our time schedule to make the show on time. Our waiter was fantastic. They are very quick and prompt with their service while still be personable. The staff’s attention to detail and knowledge of the menu and preparations made ordering a breeze. The decor is dated and could use a little sprucing up, but clean and comfortable. The menu is classic and not cutting edge, but they are known for being consistently good. The oyster chowder was a little sour, but had a great flavor and texture. The seafood bourride was chocked full of fresh shellfish with a wonderful cream based sauce. The special wild caught salmon was cooked to a perfect medium rare. We finished with a wonderful lime chiboust tart – wonderfully tart and sweet. They may never be cutting edge, but the food and staff are consistently good and worth the visit.Atmosphere/vibe/decor: 14/20Food: 35/40Service: 19/20Value: 15/2084/100
PARTY OF 6 TOTALLY PLEASED!!!In from DC, took my favorite colleagues out for a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere was charming and comfortable. The service was awesome. Everyone at the table was competing to see who had the best meal and we all won. The Chef has it down to a perfect art if creating a some of Portlands best meals. Highly recommended. Yes its $$$$ and worth every $!!ENJOY.
Really really dialed in. My type of restaurant that is flat out very memorable. I had a super fresh halibut with Saveniere that in of itself is rare. This experience can hang with every other place I’ve eaten including any star rated place in the EU
Not my type of resturant. My husband and i have been married for third eight years, and chose Higgings for our place to celebrate. we both were very disappointed! we had the halibutover cooked and dry.I can cook halibut at home better!!!!!! won’t be back.
A big fat NO!!!!. Disgusting (overpriced) food — horrible service. What should have been a fantastic celebratory get together for my brother who just graduated from OHSU, was worse than disappointing. Our after graduation lunch at Higgins featured service that was appalling and the food was worse (and my mother is currently suffering illness from the lunch she consumed there). My lunch was virtually inedible (which, considering the misery my mother is in, is probably a plus). The waiter ignored us, forgot drinks, and we waited 15 minutes for our ticket so we could finally leave. I finally had to go find the hostess and ask for it, because the waiter continued to be conspicuously absent. The bus boy rudely cleared everything off the table while we sat there, bumping into us over and over again grabbing for every last item off the table. If I could give this establishment less than one star rating, I would.
