The atmosphere is very cool but the food was very disappointing. But the worst part is the service. Simon is the worst, completely out of it. There was no manager to be found. Drug testing should be mandatory here, geez.
We decided to try Hubers for their classic American menu and that idea that it’s the oldest restaurant in Portland. The food was all delicious – I tasted all the dishes my friends had. Although the Turkey dinner with a sweet potato was disappointing. The Cobb salad was amazing. And he half and half was awesome – the meal! The atmosphere was okay! Very loud and hard to talk. Also… They need to update their bathroom or clean them better at least. Overall, good experience
Love love love this spot! It’s a well known, classy, bar/restaurant. One of the oldest in Portland! Known for their Spanish coffees and delicious turkey dinners. The happy hour isn’t too bad either!
Did the Spanish coffee. Nice presentation- but it just tastes awful. Reminded me of that gritty old cough syrup I took when I was a kid. I love coffee- but this was terrible. This is the oldest restaurant in Portland but the menu needs an update. Seemed like they are stuck in the past. Just outside this place there are tons of food trucks with far better fare- next time I will hit the trucks and leave this place to the old timers and tourists.
Great filet, everything else just ok.. My husband and I went out for a romantic dinner while visiting Portland and decided to try Huber’s for dinner. After reading the reviews (including where some guys were kicked out for not meeting the dress code – this is ridiculous btw) I expected a fancier restaurant. While we are talking about a dress code, there was a very casually dressed couple sitting next to us and they weren’t kicked out, like the guys with their hats backwards. The restaurant isn’t very fancy and even the door names the restaurant as a cafe. The interior was in need of an update. Our server wasn’t very friendly and the by-the-glass wine selection wasn’t very good. The menu had a lot of good choices. I ordered a Caesar salad and a filet mignon. The filet and it’s sides were perfectly cooked. Prices were reasonable.
Dissapointing Steak Dinner. The meal started with a small bottle of Diet Coke (who uses bottles) which was not refillable – 1st Strike. I ordered a Caesar Salad, which was very fresh with a great dressing. It was served with beer bread that was a little too sweet. Then I order Ribeye Steak, med-well, with a baked potato, Oh they do not have baked potatoes, only mashed – Strike 2. The Steak was good sized, but was undercooked and had a lot of sinew that even the steak knife could not cut, but it was tasty. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and had no flavor. They served several large stalks of broccoli for a vegetable that carried on odd and unpleasant flavor – Strike 3. I was seated in the large bar area at the back of the restaurant witch was Very noisy. When I needed to use the bathroom is was told their key was missing and I could wait for the current user to exit. After waiting 15 minutes, and knocking on the door, I asked a Lady if I could try her key, it worked, and no one was in the Men’s room. There is only one Men’s room available to the restaurant. I did not enjoy the dining experience and will not return.
Buffalo wings great. Tuna great. Shrimp great. Service impeccable. What more can you ask for?
